Must take Chem and Bio freshman year if premed?

I've been hearing a lot recently that it's highly recommended for premed freshmen to take Chem and Bio their first year since Orgo is a really tough class and those who waited to double that up with Bio their sophomore year regretted it.

I only signed up for Chem--my other classes are Math 155, ENG 118W, and Span 118W (I want to be an ENG major and ENG 118W is the necessary pre-req).

Should I change my schedule to include Bio? Either by adding it on or swapping out ENG 118W for it?

And if yes, do I need to get some sort of code from my advisor?

Thanks!

That’s almost the exact schedule I had last year, except I made the mistake of taking math 150, and also had an elective. Do yourself a favor and don’t take bio. See how you handle the chem and calculus. If you do well and are going to continue premed, you can take physics and bio together as a sophomore, and orgo as a junior (or the summer in between).
