My 11-week Linear Algebra class was just cancelled

That ticks me off. It was supposed to start next Monday.

I have the option to take a 5-week Linear Algebra course at another school, but I don't want to cram this course at all.

Yeah, LinAlg is kind of important, but it’s not that difficult… The five-week course would probably cover it just fine, but if you’d rather not cram it, that’s your prerogative.

At least you’ll probably get a professor for it. We had to learn it via computer.

I could but I’d much rather not. I prefer to absorb material over a protracted period of time.

That sucks. I took one online course. I’ll never do that again.

We didn’t have the option. Luckily the class is really easy so it wasn’t that bad. We had to go down for proctored quizzes every week or so though, which was annoying.

Are you doing anything else this summer? If its just linear algebra, you could go full throttle and learn it well in 5 weeks.
You could probably learn it in a week if you stayed focused

No. That’s the only class I was going to take. I still work part-time, though. Here’s what the schedule would look like. This is waaay too early.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 08:00AM - 10:15AM,

Would instead an 11-week CHEM1412 - General Inorganic Chemistry II be feasible?

Linear algebra is difficult to learn in 5 weeks. I hope all the important and basic concepts are covered.

Anyways, I think online courses are pretty ridiculous. How can you concentrate in front of the computer and read a book at the same time?

In some colleges, multivariable calculus is not needed for linear algebra courses. However, if you are taking linear algebra in such a short time, I would highly recommend you to have some knowledge in vector calculus.

I accidentally took an advanced ODE class before taking LinAl. I remember on the first day wondering “*** is an eigenvector?”.

This is what got me through Lin-Al though–the MIT OCW course (which as you know is a WONDERFUL supplemental tool to study anything)

We didn’t have a book.

I’m pretty sure in ours you had to either take linear first, or take them at the same time. Linear was a co/pre-req for Multi. Multi was the hardest math class I’ve ever taken though.

Lin. algebra is weird, and it can get really really weird depending on your professor. In general it should be easy, but it has basis (lol, sorry for the pun) in a lot of advanced stuff and if your professor chooses to confuse you with that (like mine is doing right now), it won’t be fun. You should be able to learn it on your own too, with a good book.
