My 3-College Dilemma, help and thoughts eeded

I got accepted to ND and Georgetown under Early Action already and I am considering applying to Vandy this December. As I plan on deciding my next 4 years, I am considering what would be the best option for doing pre-med. What are your thoughts on these 3 college in terms of prestige, academic rigor, and overall quality of life?

Thanks.

hmm... i did not know you can apply to two schools under "early action".

You can apply to more than one early action, unless one is "single choice early action". It's early decision where you can apply only to one.

Any advice for my situation guys?

Thanks.

Have you posted on the subboards specific to these three colleges?

One statistic you can look up is the percentage of applicants from each school who are admitted to medical school. How med schools view each place is probably the most important thing to you, I would guess.

As far as quality of life, the locations are pretty different from each other. Which you might prefer is a personal matter.

You could go to princetonreview.com and see student rankings on various lifestyle matters. There's always studentsreview.com, where students and alums can post their comments about a school (recognizing that people who dislike a place may be more motivated to post -- but you can still glean useful information). You also can go to your local big bookstore and read about the places in the "what the colleges are actually like" books. And certainly visit each school before you make your final decision. And even if you've visited once, if you are still undecided after your research, you can go to the special programs each contending school has for admitted students prior to the deadline for decision. You can sit in on classes, stay in dorms, eat the food, etc.

Once you do all this, I bet your decision will be a much easier one.

To answer chamnan, you can apply to any number of schools under regular "early action." You are only restricted if you apply "early decision" or "single choice early action."

That topic seems moderately useful. As for those other topics, you're definitely better off posting on all of those individual school's boards. I would also recommend trying to spend a night on campus if you could

You might look at Emory.

I thought Georgetown was Single Choice Early Action...

Nah, Gtown is Early Action but has a unique policy that you cannot apply ED anywhere else but applying EA is ok.

I see all three of these schools as pretty close competitors - as does U.S. News. Were I you, and I am expressing this in an overly simplistic way, I would choose ND if I loved the idea of a rah-rah brotherhoody type of environment - and didn't mind the absence of an attractive nearby city; Georgetown if being in a neat urban environment was important; and Vanderbilt if you wanted the social atmosphere of a Southern U.

I agree with eli. Academically the colleges are very similiar, but they could not be more different in terms of environment.

what is ND

I was confused by that too, but its Notre Dame.

If you want to go Pre-Med go ND its the best out of the three you mentioned as far as pre-med programs go
