My "AP Potential" from CollegeBoard: Is it accurate?

So I was looking at my PSAT scores, and saw that there was an “AP Potenial” tab where CollegeBoard tells you what AP courses you are ready to take based on your PSAT score. It rates the courses from a “(full) potential” to “potential not yet indicated.”

But are they accurate?

It says that I am not fit to take APUSH (“potential not yet indicated”), which is a course that I am taking this year. AP Bio is the same case. I am also taking AP English Lang, and it says that I will be successful in that class, given my results. But how accurate are they?

The traditional way is for your teachers to sign off on the classes. If they sign off and you feel you can do the work, then it should’ve ok. On another thread you indicated your PSAT score, which was a pretty average score, which is probably why CB gave those recommendations. But if you’ve never prepared for a standardized test before, chances are your score would be misleading.

CollegeBoard wants you to take AP classes. They make money when you take the courses.

Your teachers/GC know you, your grades and your curriculum. They will have a better idea if you are ready to take a class.

Definitely not. College Board said I would do well in AP Chemistry and I know for a fact that is blatant BS because I found HONORS chemistry to be super difficult for me.
