Hi! The AP World exam is coming very soon and I am freaking out. I just did a practice DBQ from the 2011 exam and I’m having trouble, especially with the POV and additional document part. It would be helpful if you guys could grade my essay and give me tips!

THESIS: From 1945 to the present, the Green Revolution was caused by the famine of society. It was seen as a miracle to many because of the introduction of new scientifically bred crop and new technologies. However, it left negative effects on the environment.
Before the Green Revolution, the economic prosperity of society was poor. Many people were in famine and susceptible to diseases (Doc 3). The Green Revolution introduced new technologies that significantly helped food production which led to the increase of yield production (Doc 1). As more food was being produced, the world population began to increase too (Doc 2). Due to the introduction of new technology, it ended famine in many developing countries because it helped significantly helped with food production (Doc 4). Seeing as the new technology helped end famine, farmers in Punjab, India were eager to use them (Doc 5). Because they were eager to use the new technology, they probably enjoyed farming more than they did before (POV).
The Green Revolution caused many lifestyles to change due to the farmers making money. They were able to live in big houses and their wives were able to go shopping (Doc 6).The social status aspect also changed; women were always seen as household workers, but due to the Green Revolution, it forced women to work as agricultural laborers (Doc 7). Not only did it focus on women, but it increased the demand of education for children (Doc 9). However, the Green Revolution also brought negative consequences; seeds of the indigenous people began to become contaminated and sterilized and because farmers were constantly working on the fields, it led the lands to become worn out (Doc 4 and 10). Not only were lands worn out, but the crops began to be contaminated and due to new technology, pollution became an issue (Doc 8).
A useful additional document would be about the wealthy before the Green Revolution. This would be helpful with the effects of the Green Revolution because it would show us if there was any competition between them and the farmers who became wealthy after the introduction of new scientifically bred crops and technology.
