I am really, really interested in Wesleyan- so when I was late for my December SAT subject tests and couldn't meet their deadline, I was crushed. By that point, I'd already sent in the preap, transcript, and a few other things- but I just stopped filling the application. I never fully closed it. But now I just opened a Wesleyan email saying that they will allow me to apply if I get in all of my stuff by the 25th. Unfortunately, the guy I talked to from the email didn't tell me how being late would affect my chances of admission.
Does anyone else know someone who had a similar situation to mine that ever got admitted anyway? Do you guys think I should send some kind of explanation? Does anyone have general advice? Help!

Take the guy at his word -- send in the rest of the paperwork. Your chances of getting in if you don't apply are zero. Your chances of getting in if you do apply are infinitely better.

I agree with NewHope. They wouldn't offer you the opportunity to apply late if they had already decided you were some irresponsible person unworthy of admission.

And like NewHope said, if you /don't/ send your app in you /definitely/ won't get in, so what do you have to lose?

Good luck!

I don't think you need an explanation in the sense of an excuse (might seem petty, even though it's not), but a response to the email saying how sincerely you appreciate their letting you apply late might be nice, I think.

Okay. I'm working hard to get it in by the 25th, and hopefully I'll get that big envelope in... March? When do decisions come out anyway?

I'm pretty sure decisions come out March 31 or April 1...

i applied almost a month early and got in. go for it…
