has anyone still not heard from their appeals yet?

i haven't heard yet

I haven't heard either.

I finally was able to get through to admissions yesterday, and the lady I talked to basically said that "we recieved a lot of appeals so are still reviewin some of them," and that "all the decisions should be done within the next few weeks." A very broad and general answer, but hey..at least it's something!

So, I'm still not sure if UCLA notifies us online through the admission decision site or by letter?

They notify by the decision website.

hey guys,
i am from out of state and i really want to go to ucla but i am not that fimilar with the UC system. what is this "shared experience" i keep reading about

^I think there's other threads about that...this thread is pretty much for people who have appealed their admission decision.

ahhhh anything yet?

Just don't worry about it, it definitely won't be updated this weekend, so...just wait till next week :)

thanks aronomy!

Yeah, I haven't heard about the appeal yet, either. I don't know why I was rejected in the first place because I was accepted to COLUMBIA and STANFORD. What the hell?

I sent in a letter explaining all of the reasons why I thought I should have been admitted. So many of my friends were and I wasn't... and I had better essays and stats than they did. It makes me so angry. I also included two letters of recommendation. One was from a math teacher who liked me a lot, and the other was from an English teacher who I had this year, who is also our school principal. So, do you think I have a good chance of getting in? I kind of wish I had written more in my letter.

I really want to find out soon! I already sent in my SIR to UCSD...

Why didn't you accept Stanford? You're crazy ;).

They didn't give me enough financial aid. Neither did Columbia. It's been a long, hard semester. I've had to appeal to UCLA and then appeal for financial aid to Columbia and Stanford.

But anyways, do you have any advice on my predicament?

Well, what's done is done, you can't write more in your letter now, you already sent it..so no need to worry about that.

Just wait until UCLA gives you an answer (I'm still waiting as well), and then go from there, UCSD is a fine school though, so even if you don't get in you still have a great alternative :).

Yeah, but if UCLA ends up rejecting me, then I'm going to UCSD for freshman year and transferring. I have to reapply to all the private schools that I didn't apply to the first time around. I guess I was stupid in believing the schools when they said "demonstrated need will be met". I know that means the bare bones financially, but they don't look at anything besides income and it drives me crazy.

By the way, does anyone here know of successful transfers from UCs to private schools their sophomore year? It would be really helpful if I could get some information on that. I checked on the transfer board, but they haven't posted much about a UC to a private school...

Saying thatyou think you should have gotten in becauseyou have better stats than people who did is NOT basis for an appeal. Legit appeals have to be based upon information that was either misrepresented or not represented in your origional application.

And as for the letter, you can't change it now but my advice would be write how you feel...WHY you want to go to UCLA and it is so important to you. At this point, the ad comms are probably so sick of reading pretentious sounding essays from kids who "saved the world" that a letter that obviously came from the heart will leave much more of an impact upon them.

What the hell kind of school is UCLA to reject people accepted to Stanford?

Anyway, JTloverYorS, when did you send your appeal letter in?

They recieved my appeal letter on the 16th, still have not heard back. I received a 4-year NROTC scholarship on April 12th, i wrote the appeal letter the next day, and had it out on the 14th.

Deadline to return my "intent to enroll" in the NROTC program is DUE on the 14th of May, meaning I have to have that letter in Florida on that day.

I havent heard back yet from UCLA, my three weeks will be on tuesday, should I call and inform them of this deadline?? This is the only basis for my appeal. Any help would be appreciated. I am very anxious because the site still says... we have recievd your letter for appeal.... and may 14th is approaching fast.
