My average is in the 90s is this good enough for Duke?

I'm currently a freshman in high school. My average for the past 3 quarters has been around a 92 and around a 94/95 weighted. On the website my school has set up "college connection" it says the average for people accepted into Duke was around a 96/97. Will my poor-ish grades Freshman year ruin any of my chances into getting into Duke? It's my dream to go there, I am taking more challenging courses next year (I only took 2 honors this year, but I'm taking 4 next year).

My freshman grades were a lot worse (like Bs) and I still got in. Your still a freshman, so you’ll be fine, just do well and take hard courses, bur do well in them. Study for thr SAT/ACT and do well. But what’s really important is what you do besides study, find something you like to do and really dedicate yourself to that cause.

As long as you show significant upward trend and move up in the class rank you should be fine. I you are unhooked (not a minority, athlete legacy, etc ) know that you should be in at the least the top 5% to be considered. Preferably top 1%

that last part above depends on how good your school is

Thank you both, but how would I know where I rank since my high school doesn’t rank? Would I not be considered?

Everyone knows their relative rank. Are there a bunch of students who constant get better grades than you?

Regardless, you will be fine. Enjoy high school. You are only a freshmen. Maybe in 3 years, you’ll be applying to Carolia instead.
