My brown chance?

I am an African student; I have an inquiry about my chances to be admitted in brown university??

Academic activities

  • I won silver medal in international physics Olympiad in 2017
  • I won twice in national physics Olympiad ( one time I got bronze medal, and the second time I got gold medal )
  • I got the seventh place in MYMC math Olympiad (national competition in mathematics among secondary school students)
  • I am writing a research paper in mathematics
  • I've got through many scientific projects (one of them won the national second rank on my and was nominated to participate in international science and Engineering fair in Arizona state 2016)
  • I've was a presenter in an international conference about sustainable methods for water purification

Leadership activities

  • I was founder to a group in my school responsible for night tutoring classes
  • I was co-founder of physics group in my school that organized science events

My standardized test scores

  • 800/800 sat Physics & 760/800 sat Maths II
  • 1310/1600 SAT I

recommendation letters

  • I have very strong recommendations from my teachers and the counselor
  • I have a recommendation from a former researcher in NASA

I would say your one problem is the SAT score. You did great on the subject tests though, but getting into Brown with a 1310 is a stretch. I would say if you’re not applying ED you should study really hard and retake in December! At least try to get it to a 1400, your chances will probably increase. Khan Academy is super helpful for SAT prep–I would guess that you probably aced the math portion so try to study writing/reading more. The writing is pretty easy, but reading gets me every time. In the end, you will improve if you just practice, practice, practice! Do every problem they have, read every passage, do all of the reading/writing sections available on Khan Academy and I guarantee you will improve!

I won’t be able to apply for brown in ED by my SAT in December. This is my only chance to apply in ED. If SAT I is used to guarantee academic success, I think such awards in both national and international level + SAT II will guarantee so. Moreover, I’d like to peruse physics major and I did much for my spike. What do you see ??

That’s certainly one problem. The other problem is that you are an international applicant. International acceptance rates are generally lower.

I think SAT’s will trump awards. The acceptance rate lowers as the SAT scores go down

Will your awards offset? Maybe. They are certainly an achievement of which you should be proud. But nobody here will know for sure. You chance of acceptance is only 0% if you don’t apply. Good luck.
