My CC has the most annyoing morons

There’s a huge difference between putting in effort and being intelligent. I’m simply surprised at how many people put in incredible amounts of effort and still end up complaining about how hard everything is and still get horrible grades.

They actually ARE idiots, and there’s a lot of them in my CC. Sure some of them try really hard, and I admire that, since I don’t try very hard myself. But seriously, what the hell? Why would any of these classes take so much effort? Why after so much effort do they still get bad grades? Why is the average grade on a test 63% when it really wasn’t that complicated? Why why why?

Sure, stating these observations makes me an arrogant bloke, but am I wrong in some way? Are my observations inaccurate in some way? I don’t believe so, it’s so blatantly true.

“Everyone at CC is serious about school since this is likely the only shot they have at a degree.”

That’s not true at all. I bet a ton of the students are only there because their parents told them they had to go or get a job and move out. Why would serious students get drunk in the parking? Why do so many just sit in the back talking to each other quite loudly nearly whole period if they are serious? Why do so many constantly interfere with lectures trying to make stupid elementary school style jokes? I don’t care if people just suck in school, but still come, take notes, get outside help, and give some effort. However, there are so many idiots who make it harder on everyone else by ruining the environment because they just don’t care, and are only there to keep parents off their back or avoid having to get a full time job.

My CC actually doesn’t have too many people that just goof off all the time, or perhaps it’s because of the classes I’m taking this semester. All the hardcore goofs don’t really make to the higher level lower division sciences and maths I guess.

Another funny thing I see are people that consistently drop classes. One of my friends got so many W’s that he went on academic probation. So many people drop classes that by the middle of the semester the parking lot appears to have less than half of the cars compared to the beginning of the semester.

^thats how it is at one of the cc’s I go to(i mentioned in another thread I had to split my unit load between two for fa reasons). Most of the people in my classes at my second cc are a buncha spoiled rich kids who are only there because they have to be if they want to mooch off their rich parents. Some of them have been in CC for 5 years, and have absolutely clue what they are going to do.

I have seen the flip side of this at my other school, which is in a little poorer area. When I worked as an EOP&S tutor, I met people who came out of the worst situations and were legitimately trying to better their lives. And I have all the respect in the world for them. The people I can’t stand are the first type, not the second.

you are all nerds.

I guess I agree with tekierz, they do deserve a great deal of respect. However I just refuse to believe that some people can be naturally that much smarter than others, so this whole thing with people trying really hard and not succeeding bothers me to no end.

Could it be that they’re exerting their effort on the wrong things? Could it be that they’re trying too hard to just memorize things when they should be grasping bigger picture concepts? I doubt it’s a matter of potential.

How do you define a nerd anyways? Could hardcore slackers like myself be nerds?

^I think alot of it just has to do with poor study skills, they try to do too much and end up overloading. I on the other hand, have a reallly good memory so I remember the lectures almost word for word and end up passing my test quite easily. And in the english classes, I’m a pretty good writer so with a couple of rewrites and revisions I can easily write an A paper.

If slackers could be nerds then I’m probably one. I don’t try too hard at all.

Yeah I’m right there with you tekierz. Doesn’t it kind of bother you that people around you have such “poor study skills”? For me it’s like a package of unwanted superiority complex mixed with utter alienation. I find myself pretending to find the coursework hard just to attempt to relate sometimes. What a joke.

^omg I know! Sometimes I’ll take a hella easy test and then go outside then a buncha my classmates will be like all “■■■■ that was so hard” and I’ll just be like “I know, that teachers sucha ***** for giving us a test that hard”.
lol I can’t wait to take upper division classes though!

Rofl, I’m glad at least someone knows what I’m talking about. Yeah upper division classes are going to be awesome, hopefully it won’t be like this…

Not at UCSD for econ. I don’t understand how people do so horribly in econ. Me and my friend have a theory that anyone that can’t do the serious sciences (like biochem etc…) drop out and switch to econ. (Don’t be affended anyone, I don’t like/can’t handle the math at ucsd (by can’t handle i mean get B+ average) so I am a math/econ student at ucsd).

Anyways, I’m about as lazy as they come and would have to change that if i get into ucla or ucb, but the point is last quarter i went to class 3 times for both my econ classes. 1 on the first day and the other 2 times for the midterms. One was lower div macroecon, and the other was a third course in upper div econometrics. I got an A in both, and all I did was study 3-6 hours before the two midterms and final. I’m not a genius at all, not even close. The fact that I got so high above the average when most the other students go to every class/take notes/and study outside of class just indicates people are really not smart in econ at ucsd.

But i’m not complaining, unlike you guys. If i can get a 4.0 by being lazy, I’m fine with that.

Oh man, I thought I would get lots of flack for calling you all nerds only for you guys to prove my point. lol :D

i wish i was a nerd. then i would have a 4.0. but unfortunately i’m way to lazy. it’s really not good.

maybe the superiority complex thingy works out for some ppl as it gives them more motivation to study thats what i think but anyway there are dumb ppl and there are smart ppl as simple as that, we cant change anything

okay so… who aren’t you annoyed by?

"anyway there are dumb ppl and there are smart ppl as simple as that, we cant change anything "

I don’t know man, I don’t think it’s as easy as some people are just dumb. Why are they dumb? Were they born that way? I doubt it. There’s some inherent flaw in the way they were educated, or their study habits, or their critical thinking abilities, I don’t know what it is exactly but I don’t think their potential is maxed out.

Maybe we’re all dumb for posting on here in the middle of the night trying to find out who is the dumbest, when we probably have much better things to do, like study so we can get into our schools! So I can’t be dumb, if I want to get into Cal…so I’m gonna integrate by parts now…

It was real, and it was fun…but it wasn’t real fun!

The idiots who sit in the quad blasting music out of hideous-sounding iPod dock speakers wearing a flannel shirt that is too small, sunglasses, and a bandanna. Go away.

Also the people in my microecon class who had two weeks to study for our first exam, AND got extra credit to curb their crappy grades. WTH? My score: 110.6%. Class average: 57%. Really???!!?!?

Lastly, the people on here who apparently are not nerds solely based on the fact that they are slackers. Guys, you won’t be slackers when the fire is lit under your a.s.s. next year. Anyone can slack off taking these cc classes. Hell, I’m taking 16 units and working 40 hrs/week and getting As (and drunkenly typing this up now instead of staying in to study).

And I can’t believe no one understands that **if you’re too lazy to shower before a class at 4:00PM despite having all day to do so, you are disgusting. **

And to the extent that people notice enough to rant about it online? ugh, gross.

this posting is kinda funny~~~
