Hello , first please excuse me for my bad grammar.
I'm currently a junior in high school and I would like to know my chance at Berkeley.
I messed up my freshman and sophmore year, but now I'm trying hard this year and next year. If im getting straight As in my last 2 years , my gpa would probably be around 3.6. My friend told me that doing community services and be active in clubs will greatly increases my chance. So right now I'm in many different clubs like Key/robot/math team/vietnamese/dance ( my major is computer science), and I've been going to saturday catholic school for the past 3 years and did a lot of community services (more than 1500+ hours). With all those, I would like to know my percentage to get into Berkeley.
Or should I take the California Proficiency Exam (CPE) after my junior year and go to 2 years community college then transfer to Berkeley; because if I continue to finish senior year and got rejected from Berkeley then I would have to spend 2 years in community college. So taking the CPE would save me 1 year.
Please give me your advices (I can take criticism so please throw them all out)
Thank you very much :D

Did you take your SATs? If you can pull a 2200+ on your SAT, I think your lower than average sophomore grades may be forgiven.
UCB doesn’t factor in your freshman grade for your GPA; however, sophomore grade is important. How many Bs or Cs did you have sophomore year? Also, last year I heard some people applied to both UCB and UCM, was rejected to UCB but receive an offer for guaranteed transfer. Maybe you can also look into that. I’m not sure about the exact details.

First of all , thank you for reply
Last year I got 1 A , 2 Bs , 3 Cs, and 1 F (pre-cal).
How hard is SAT? I’m taking PSAT this week and I’m studying for it.

Your second plan is better. A 3.6 would not likely get you into Berkeley and further, they do not count senior year. The GPA you show them will ge sop and junior years only.

so even i get straight As in my senior year , it wont count toward my high school gpa? Do i have a better change to transfer to UCB after 2 years of community college? and do you happen to know how hard is the CPE ?

The fact that you got a F in precalc during your sophomore year (and also getting 3 C’s to boot) essentially makes your chances of getting into Berkeley nonexistent. Every year people with 4.0’s, 2100+ SAT, and decent ECs are rejected from Berkeley.

Yes, your second plan is better. Go to a community college and do the best your can. Then you have a chance at Berkeley.
