Hey everyone, I just wanted a straight up, no BS answer on whether or not I have a legit shot at getting into GU's Walsh School of Foreign Service. Here's what I got:

SAT's: 1780 (Yes, they're really low, but I've only taken them once. I'm still a junior)

SAT II: World History: 740

GPA: 3.822 (weighted) 3.52 (unweighted) Class Rank: 78/362

Course Load:
All academic classes have been Honors courses plus two AP's this year. I plan to take five or six AP's senior year.

Extra Ciruculars:
Volunteer at the local SPCA
Volunteer at the Red Cross
Volunteer at the Salvation Army
Member of Kare (community service club at school, and will be leader next year.)
National Italian Honor Society
National German Honor Society (next year)
NHS
Model UN
Piano lessons for 12 years
Meditation Club (President)
Newspaper
School TV News
Mock Trial
Yearbook
CISV
I also learn Chinese and Hindi outside of school. In school I learn Italian, German and, next year, French. (If you haven't noticed, I focus a lot on languages. I also speak Korean.)
I plan to a) Get a job this year or b) get an internship with my State Senator (if I can..) or c) get an internship at the local courthouse.
Applied to PA Governer's School, and will attend either GU's Summer program or GW's Summer Program if I'm rejected.

I've also traveled a good amount in my life. Not sure if that helps, but I know GU likes global perspectives.

Sorry if I sounded like I bragged in this post. Didn't mean to, I'm just getting it all out.

Increase you SAT score by 400 points if possible

Increase your rank to top 10%

If you can, provide proof of your competency in those languages (SAT IIs, etc)

If you can do that (especially 1 and 3) you'll have a very good shot at FLL and maybe SFS.

I don't think you need to take language SAT IIs or be insane at a particular language to say you wanna do FLL, since it's not binding and it's a part of the College.

I wrote I would like to take advantage of the FLL program in my Why Gtown essay, and I didn't take a language SAT II. The OP was talking about SFS, so Idk what you're talking about w/ FLL.

I will tell you the same thing I have told everyone else who has asked. I have better stats and was deferred. Right now I would say Gtown is a reach for you. If you can raise your class rank significantly which will obviously improve your GPA you will have about a 20% chance of getting in just like everyone else. Remember alot of it is luck of the draw, where you live etc.. My GC was told that there were a huge amount of applications from my area which hurt everyone's chances. Don't forget to take 2 more SAT II's, I have to admit I am glad all of that is over.

So basically, if I can raise my GPA and SAT scores, I should be fine? Also, I plan to take the SAT II for Italian next year after I've learned more, and I don't know enough of the other languages to take it yet. I can only speak Korean, and I have no reading comprehension of the language.

There's no such thing as being "fine" with a top 25 school. You need to put forth the best application you have and your goal should be to put yourself "in the running" for Georgetown. This school is not a match or a safety for anybody.
