I have a great interest in business, I started my own small business in sophomore year and am working on it a lot. I love business =P

pennorbust: I won't make excuses. The only explanation, is when transitioning from 8th to 9th grade (MS to HS) I didn't realize the importance of grades at all. I finally started trying, and got better. =/

mahras: I'm a sophomore going into junior. My for junior are hypothetical :) Can people evaluate? =)

I hate to say it, but unless you have a really good reason for that first year, I don't think your chances are very good. There are lots of people with stats similar to yours who don't have that issue to deal with.

yes.. Wharton. I know it's a reach :( Anything that will help chances? I'm not actually thinking I could get in. I'm more on the state of mind that if i reach for Wharton, and it's a reach, that means some other good schools are probably matches .So i'd reach for Wharton, fall amongst otheres hopefully :) . any tips?

Did you start your business already or you are comtemplating starting one?

If you do be sure to incorporate, and have tax returns showing that it actually is a viable business (not some toy that earns four figs in a year).

protege, contrary to other opinions, I don't think you need an amazing reason for the low GPA during your freshman year. Although at least some kind of explanation will probably be necessary, most colleges and universities (to the best of my knowledge) look favourably upon upward trends in GPA. Going from a 2.1 to a 4.0 and maintaining that 4.0 for the second half of your high school career is no small accomplishment.

Just my two cents. Best wishes and good luck with the rest of school!

I think Penn is great dream school for you. Apply there, but pick colleges that would match your qualifications, along with some safeties. That way, you can shoot for your reach, but still have a fall back.

Hm.. :)
quaker: Of course I have no idea the intensity at which Wharton teaches at being that I am still a High Schooler. What I do have an idea of, is my motivation to work. After a spark in high school, I worked harder than anyone in my school did. So therefore, I'd say I could get B's and above at least. =)

finale: Thanks. It definitely is my dream school. I may apply there as a reach school. But I'll definitely have matches/safeties. I know it's not much chance to get in. But I'd love it :)

My GPA seems to be a lot lower using my schools scale. When I convert it to the standard scale that all college use, it is significantly higher. What will penn do with my GPA? I know that they do not recalculate it.
