I am applying to UCB (moleuclar cell bio), UCLA(biochem) , UCSD (Human bio) and UCD (biochem)
GPA: 3.7
little to no EC
I will not able to finish pre-req by the time I transfer (UCD and UCB: missing 1 physics)
(UCLA and UCSD: missing calculus 3 and 1 physics)

Your GPA is good for that major however your missing prerequisites might hurt you a bit. For UCLA biochemistry average GPA for students that go accepted was 3.66. But it is an impacted major so the prerequisites are pretty important to complete. My unqualified opinion would be UCB and UCLA are 50% chance UCSD 60% to 70% chance and Davis 80% to 90% chance. These are very unqualified estimates.

if your essay is good... you'll have a good chance. those pre req's can be taken when you transfer. but you have a good chance nonetheless.

How about me, guys?

Applied: UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCSC, UCI (already accepted to UCI!)
English Major, (Lit for Santa Cruz)
GPA: 3.06
EC: book club/ writing circle, part-time job.
I'm really proud of my essay, and think it's my biggest strength.
Pre-reqs and IGETC will be done by this semester.

Thanks in advance!

Just curious...
I have always thought that UCI rate the same as UCD, so, are they the same, which one you prefer to go to?
If UCI amitt you, I think UCD will admit you also!!!

not necessarily. Cal Poly Pomona rejected me for bio/chemical eng. Davis rejected me for bio/chemical eng. Both SB and R accepted me for bio/chem eng with chancellor's scholarship and honors program thing. uci accepted me but didnt give me jack.

dreamspace: I definitely prefer northern California over sticking around behind the orange curtain for two more years... Ugh.

Although...UCI has the better English program. Hm...

So you're thinking with that GPA I have no chance for UCLA or UCB, eh?
I wrote about some family problems in my essay that explain the lowish GPA, but I guess we'll see.

That is the norm of what most people write in their essays, about family problems or sobbing stories. I thought one of the prompt was what got you to choose the major you wanted? I think if you wrote more within that prompt, you'll stand out more in letting the UC's know who you really are.

Lord Darwin
They amitt some number of ppl in every GPA range, I guess.
My high school fd took no AP, only1 honor math class, low SAT (new immigrant), little EC and still get in UCB (spring admission!)
The dump thing is... she reject berkeley and go to davis because most other ppl in my high school go to davis.
I think she wrote about her sister's dead in china!! sad!
