Hello, I just want to see what anyone would consider for my chances early decisioning Bowdoin for November.

I am 38 in a class of 950, at one of the most prestigious public schools in Texas. This puts me in the top 5 percent of class. My actual GPA is 3.8 unweighted and 4.67 weighted. No one from my school has ever applied to Bowdoin, which I think will give me much credo, even if I am white. (This is the same for my other top choices, Amherst and Swarthmore)

My freshmen year was one of transition from all level course in 8th grade to all honors in 9th. This resulted in a mesh of As and Bs but I believe my following years make up for this. Sophomore year courses comprised of AP World History, AP Euro History, PreAP Geometry, PreAP English, PreAP Chemistry, Comm/Health (a requirement), Spanish 2, and Debate 2. I received As in all course except English, with double 89s. Junior years course were AP Art History, AP Eng Lang, AP Hum Geo, AP US, Anatomy Honors, PreAP Algebra 2, PreAP Physics, and Debate 3. I made As in all course except AP English and 1 of 2 periods in Physics. Senior year courses are AP Chem, AP Eng Lit, AP Pschology, AP Eco, AP Gov, AP Stat, Independent Study of Debate, and Precalculus Honors. AP Chem, Eng, Psy, and Debate our my fall courses, which I am expecting to make all As in based off of how they have been proceeding in my initial weeks of senior year.

The dents in my course are obviously in English, but I am thinking my AP and SAT English scores will nullify this problem and show that the classes were exceptionally hard ones. Another is the one B in physics preap, but my AP Chem As will hopefully make up for it. Lastly, and perhaps most deadly, is language. I only have 2 years of Spanish. However, I think my obvious specialization in philosophy, history, and debate will override this issue.

My AP scores are all 5s in Art History, World History, European History, English Language and Composition, Human Geography, and United States History. I am taking 6 more my senior year, those being Chemistry, Statistics, Government, Macroeconomics, Psychology, and English Lit.

SAT scores are as follows: 690 Math, 730 Writing, and 750 Reading.
SAT 2s as follows: 770 US History, 760 Literature
ACT: 32

I am debate president of our school and create the strategy that all our teams use. I have won 1st place at 5 tournaments and been a finalist in several more. I am state qualified in both of Texas’s debate organizations: TFA and UIL 3 times over for both. All four years.

I have taken karate for 13 years of my life, and was granted my black belt my junior year of high school. I also was an assistant instructor in the activity for two years, teaching children karate and leadership skills (i suppose this counts for community service as well).

I am also captain of 3 UIL Academic teams, Persuasive, Social Studies, and Ready Writing. Our school placed 1st in all these events for the first time after I became captain with myself placing first in each respective event at the district tournament. This cause our school to win the district competition for the first time as well. 2 years.

Other Extracurriculars: Band: I have played in a rock band with friends for all four years of high school. We have made many personal compositions and recordings, as well as played many shows throughout Houston. National Student Leadership Conference Law Program (Lead Lawyer position attained). Piano and Guitar training for all four years of high school with several original songs created.

I interviewed at Bowdoin and it went prodigiously well. Majors I am selecting for my application are Asian Studies, History, and Philosophy, which I believe my grades and activities will support quite cogently.

Please tell me your thoughts on this matter. Thank You, Zeke63
