Hey! Your school courses and predicted grades are great! I assume you’re planning to apply UChicago Econ right? You ECAs also cover a broad range of activities, but do you have any long-term activities or passion?
One thing that might hurt you is you SAT score… UChicago students usually score more than 2150… otherwise you have to write exceptional essays to make up for your relatively low score. Did you sign up for Nov’s SAT?

@lilianho89
well… I’m living outside USA, so I have no chance to take SAT anymore if I’m applying
for EA. Maybe I have to wait for my ACT result.
I do have long-term activities and passion! I’ve been playing guitars for 8 years so far,
and was involved various earthquake related volunteer activities for 3 years or more.
BTW, thank you for your answer!

don’t worry about your SAT scores, they are good enough, i’ve seen people with less SAT scores than you who still got in, your ECs are great. Now your essays have to be just perfect, i know Uchicago asks very quirky questions, and expects quirky answers. I think you have a good chance of getting in if your essays just wow them !!

Hello!

If you think I have a chance, you definitely have a chance! (: the only thing would say to work on are your essays…they should’t be just “fine,” they should “fantastic.” kinda sounds weird to call your own work “fantastic,” but I’m my biggest critic…so I feel that if you find yourself with a draft you want Everyone to read because it’s too amazing to keep to yourself…then your essays are ready. Also try reading them out loud to yourself. Best of luck. (:

bump!! anyone please? I really need more :)

You have a good chance to get in. Since your AP scores are pretty high, your ec is pretty impressive,also you will pay full tuition, I guess, these points are your strong ones.

You have great AP scores and an array of interesting EC’s. Try to improve your essays and you will get in.

JennieW, why would he have to pay full tuition?

Would chances really increase if a student has to pay full tuition?

Some universities are not need-blind for international students…
So it might not be wise to summit FA forms to increase the chance for admission.

premed;
As I know financial aid for international students is very limited compared to the amount/percentage given to general applicants, or very difficult to get it. School hopes most international students will pay full tuition. Pay full tuition is a plus for any application, even though it will not necessarily guarantee a spot. Every “plus” counts.

It’s not a “+” for every application in a need-blind school. Because if it is a “+” for every full-payer (domestic/citizens) then it becomes an indirect negative for everyone who needs aid, and that violates the principles upon which need-blind aid is based.
