Planning to take SAT again!
Chance @berkely/UCLA/UCSD/UCI???? pliz

many thanks roy, cardinal....
any more pliz????

I will defintely retake SAT and maybe SATII...
my family will be ecstatic if i get into berkely, happy if i make it to UCLA
but will be sad if i can't make it to berkely or ucla =(

Berkeley will be a reach for you. Your UW GPA is kinda low. Your SAT is a below the average...Try to get those up, a little bit of sudying will help a lot. Since you took APUSH, try to take the SAT II for Us History.

It's a reach. I don't really get the "chances" thread with regard to UC's. Irvine is a safety for you, so you need to use the UC app anyway. All you have to do is check a box for Berkeley and UCLA. That's it. So I know you're trying to get a guage, but none of us here have any solid 100 percent information on whether you will or will not get in. Spend a lot of time on your essays and hope for the best! Good luck!

I'm sorry, but I'm tired of you people telling others that it is "a reach"
I've said this before. You guys are only hearing one side of a multi-dimensional aspect which Berkeley considers.

Cal looks at scores, yes, but much more. The best way to get into UC Berkeley is to be different. Have a unique experience which makes you shine from the others, do something no one else has done. Overcome an amazing obstacle (and i dnt mean ur cat dieing).

Manfredman, don't take any of these other post very seriously, they can be dead wrong. If you have a personal quality, something you know is different than most others, BE SURE to explain it in your essay application.

Almost all of my scores were lower than yours, and I got in. Don't rely on these posts.

Berkeley is a school of diversity more so than a school of academic talent.

as i said, "So I know you're trying to get a guage, but none of us here have any solid 100 percent information on whether you will or will not get in"

prepare your essays, and check the box. it's really that simple. you are going to apply whether or not 100 people tell you you can not get in. just apply and hope for the best!

It seems that you have a longhauled experience in the music field. I would advise you to at least touch on it and make it an "unique experience" in your essays in the application.

Your SATs should be improved. But, I got in with a 1910...so it's not all loss there.

GPA should be higher. Pull up as much as you can in the incoming year. AS HIGH AS YOU CAN. Maximize your chances.

You should retake some SATIIs to shoot for around 750 or higher on average. I think they look at SATIIs more in particular than SAT I. Though, that's my assumption.

How about your AP scores? I believe high AP scores go a long way. Try to get at least one or two 5s. If your average AP scores are higher than 4, you should be okay.
