My chance of getting into the following schools?

Alright basically I'm a chinese international student studying in US. I'm currently studying in Thayer Academy near Boston. just took ssat and got a 95%, grades in school are 3as,1a- and 1b+ unweighted=3.8 weighted=4.0

Applying to: Blair, Loomis, Middlesex, St.Albans may add some more.
Grade Applying for: 10th

To be frank it's so frustrating competing with other chinese students. Now too many of us are applying to American boarding schools every year so typically the enrollment result of a prestigious boarding school is gonna be like 5/500... i bet it's the lowest of all ethnics.

EC:all sorts of community service for 5 years back in China. worked as an usher in a free cinema in China every week. I go to impoverished areas every half year. Last year I worked as a teaching assistant in my father's hometown for 2 weeks. Once organized a charity sale in my school back in china in order to gain poney to plant trees in a province to prevent the sand storm in our capital, got 6 grands eventually. Once helped organize a guinness record. probably the dumbest ever: most people shaking hands together.... but it was successful worked in student government, club leader, some minor awards, etc.

I was put on the wl by mx last year without an interview----->they don't offer off campus interviews. Hope this year it's gonna be better.

just got here no long than 3 months, so nothing special was made here..

No sports/music/arts

rec letters should be good. I got all kinds of positive comments from all my teachers and classmates. the only international student in 9th grade.

BTW chinese are considered in a different pool and it’s so much harder so don’t judge me with an american standard. Try to evaluate my possibility as I’m applying to 11th grade

come on guys, answers are appreciated !

Well, if what you say is true, then clearly, you need to do something that makes you stand out from all the other applicants.

Your SSAT score is good enough. No need to worry about it. Your GPA should also be good enough. No need to worry about it, but raising it wouldn’t hurt anyone.

Let’s see: Your extracurriculars. Don’t get mad at me if I’m totally wrong, but I assume most of the Chinese applicants are fairly wealthy and living in city areas (I mean, they pay for full Boarding School tuition). I would greatly emphasis how you helped out the less fortunate, and everything that has taught you. Don’t hold back in your essays, list all of those great things you have accomplished and let them be amazed! Although it would be a good idea to focus on one and write an intriguing story about it.

Next: No sports/music/arts. Well, not everyone can do everything. Focus on what you can do, not what you can’t.

What else is there that you can do? Just make yourself as strong of an applicant as you possibly can, and don’t be afraid to show them how great you truly are.

Best of luck!
