My chances and advice

I'm a junior at a small prep school in New England. Right now my top choice is definitely Brown, and other colleges I'm considering are Columbia, Tufts, Boston College, Bowdoin, Lehigh, and Georgetown.

GPA: 4.0 unweighted, my school doesn't weight GPA's.
Class rank: Top 5%, I'm either 2nd or 3rd at the moment, I'm hoping to bring that up to 1st.

Classes This year:
Pre-Calculus Honors
AP Chemistry
English 3 Honors
AP US History
Spanish 3
World Religions/Mysticism & Meditation

Classes Next year:
AP Calculus
AP Physics
AP English
AP European History
AP American Government
Spanish 4

PSAT: 99th percentile
I'm taking SATs in April, I'm hoping for a 2200 or above
Bio SAT II: 690, I plan on taking a couple others, most likely math and history

Extras:
-Cross Country (varsity)
-Ultimate Frisbee (varsity)
-Writing tutor
-Math tutor
-Math club and team - I took the AMC 10 and was school winner, and took the AMC 12 this year
-Chapel Choir - I play rhythm guitar
-Jazz Band - I play saxaphone and flute
-School Rock Band - Lead guitar
-Applied Music Honors - School credit for taking guitar lessons outside of school
-Knitting club
-Thanksgiving food drive – decorating boxes and delivering goods
-Volunteer at various school functions (open house, etc.)
- Relay for life and special olympics volunteer
- I worked for my dad part time over the past 3 summers
-Probably some other stuff I'm forgetting, this all off the top of my head

-Headmistress list (4.0 GPA or above) for the majority of my high school career
-Book prize awarded last year for academic excellence as well as excellence in other fields
-4 year, full tuition scholarship to my school (4 are awarded)

As you can see in my ec's, music is a huge part of my life, and right now I am definitely considering it for an essay topic.

you might need some leadership positions but otherwise you're good

hmmmmm...I think you need to improve your EC's a bit. And you shouldn't include some of the really lame ones (knitting club? LOL)

Your scores are GREAT! And if you got in the 99th percentile on the PSAT, you will definitely score 2200-2400 on the SAT. So good luck. You should consider retaking Bio SAT II as your score isn't top-notch (most ppl score at least above 700 on their SATII's b/c they pick their strongest subject).

Other than that, I think you have a great chance at the places you are applying. Keep up the good work! =)

Haha, I was in knitting club with a couple of my friends for about half a year as a joke. I thought I'd throw it in there anyway. I forgot to add that I'm a member of NHS too.

Some updated info: I'm most likely going to be in a peer leadership program next year that mentors the entering freshmen class, and I'm going to be president of math club next year. I also plan on joining amnesty international and volunteering at a hospital over the summer.

Right now since Brown is by far my top choice, I'm thinking about applying there early decision next year. Do you think this would help? (Assuming I'll have a good rec and hopefully 2300 or above SAT)

Might want to consider Holy Cross which offers a good combination of athletics ans athletics(cross country). HC has a good music facility/program and plans to offer merit aid. Also might want to look at Duke.
