My Chances - Andover, Lawrenceville, Deerfield, Emma W

Okay, here we go.

The basics:
Applying for freshman year 2010-2011
Asian American (Chinese)
Need FA

My Grades:
Science - 89 [I know! I can't believe it DX]
Math - 96
L.A. - 97
Social Studies - 99
GPA for first marking period - 97

6th and 7th grade, all high A's except 1 B+ in 7th grade (Social Studies)

I'm relatively quiet in class. Teachers like me, but I don't feel like I stand out to them.
I barely know the principal, but I think he likes me.

SSAT:
89 Verbal
94 Reading
96 Math
96 overall

ECS:
Piano - 8 years
Swim team - both seasons since 6 yrs. old (but not this winter)
Flute - 4 years (for band)
Tennis - 4 years
Tap dance - 3 years
Ballet - just started beginning of November
Badminton - 8 years

Treasurer of National Junior Honor Society
Community Service Committee - Student Council [since beginning of this year]
Announcer/News Writer of school morning news (once a week)
Gifted [since grade 7], Chorus + Band [throughout MS]
Advanced Singers Group - 7th grade (not anymore because the teacher's pregnant)
Ski Club since 7th grade
French Club - started this year

I'm not sure if these count:
5th grade won local history essay contest (all schools)
7th grade won 2nd in state - Stock Market Game (for Gifted, in a team of 4)
Girl Scouts - grades 4 through 6
WAS supposed to start in Jazz Band this year, but the band teacher's gone this winter, so in Spring I'll probably be in it.

Algebra II [highest math class offered]
French II [high school classes, MS no longer offers]

6th grade helped raise money for Chinese earthquake (performed piano)
Sibling at Lawrenceville who’s a very good student
Always performed in school talent shows [probably doesn’t count…]

Ah, also:
6th and 7th grade Battle of the Books
This year I’ll help host the elementary Battle of the Books.
Math Kumon - 2 years [Does it help my chances? :/]
Reading Kumon - just started November
And the StockMarketGame was 2nd in region, not state.

When I send my application to schools, do I tell them this whole list, or just choose my biggest ones?

well the schools do not want to see all those little scrapes
just put whatever you can fit in the application and tell all the rest in the interview

All the awards, stock market game, essay contest belong in the personal achievements section, for Andover and I think Deerfield at least.
Try to get rid of things like Jazz Band (just put music as one of your ec’s), Kumon, Chinese Earthquake, and Battle of the Books, they seem a bit extraneous, like you’re putting little things to make it look like you’re really involved.
Admissions people want to see things your passionate about, like Badminton, Flute and Tennis.
