Essay: I'm a pretty good writer, I got a 10 on my SAT essay.
Letters of Rec: I have many great professors who are willing to write letters of recommendation for me and I'm generally known as a pretty good student who cares about their grades.

Please let me know what you think, I'm open for suggestions and criticism. Do you think I can get into the schools I listed above? Rice is my first choice but I would like to get into higher level universities. Also, the area I live in is the Rio Grande Valley and is VERY underprivileged, which I head is a factor that colleges take into consideration.

You have a lot of really good aspects to your application, and I think you have a really good shot at all of these schools (although you being from Texas will make UNC difficult, as they accept really few OOS applicants).

Thanks! So you think I even have a fair shot at Cornell?

Maybe. I don’t know much about Cornell.

what is your unweighted gpa?

SAT essay really means nothing.

What is your SAT breakdown? You may want to consider retaking or try the ACT. 2200 is good but not impressive
