My chances as an International Applicant

Hi all,
I'm currently a student in Ireland, and was wondering what my chances are of getting into MIT. It's the only college i'm applying for in the US, for variable reasons, but im just wondering what importance they would place on my SAT results. I did the June SAT and got 560 in CR, 720 in Math, and 510 in writing. They were not as good as i was hoping for, but I only did 3 days or so prep, due to school tests the previous week. I'll be doing the SAT's again around October, and was wondering if any kind souls had any advice on what I should be aiming for, if being an international applicant unfamilier with the SATs makes any difference - I understand MIT is very hard to get into, but i feel I should at least try since it has being my dream to go there for a number of years now.

So yes, to summarize :

1) Does being an international applicant change the SAT req's for MIT ?

2) What should i be aiming for if so ?

Thanks very much in advance, any comments are more than welcome.

-Edit-

I realise my SAT scores are pretty far off, but if i were to bump my Math up to 780 ish, and my CR + writing to 650 ish would that make me even a possible candidate ? As i feel confident in doing that over the next couple of month. Thanks for the reply though :)

with that SAT u are very far off…but dont be discouraged, even though international admissions are much harder/rigorous than on the local level.

Forgot to mention, here in Ireland theres nothing you can really do in secondary school that sets you apart. You either take higher level / ordinary level courses. Of which i took all higher, except for Irish (since i hate that and see no practicality in it).

So on the bases of the next SAT I do, if i were to be able to get around 780 on Math, ~ 650 on the other two. Would it suffice for the SAT portion of the application, considering the SAT English section is completely different from what I do here, and my final exams, which are next year (going into final year in Sep.), take priority over my SATs.

So erm, yes i have a slight habit of rambling on, given those SAT scores, and that I was able to do good in the essay department, what would be other peoples oppinion on my chances.

Thanks very much again for any possible responses :)
