University of Pittsburgh also has an amazing medical school guarantee program, if you want to look into it as well (or maybe you already know about it :p).

xrCalico thanks for the reply…yes I have heard of the program in UPitt but I also heard that it is one the hardest to get into.

Rice-Baylor should be just as hard as the Pitt-UPMC. If you’re trying for one of them, why not apply to the other?

Guys what do you think are my chances of getting in…cause i am still trying to narrow down my college list so i dont have to write like 500 essays

I know that both Rice/Baylor and Brown PLME will be especially hard to get into, but I have no idea about the other ones. My impression is that they look for people with genuine interest in medicine and that the whole process is less stats-driven than the normal college admission process, with the essays and your extracurricular activities being much, much more important than usual.

The only medical school guarantee program I’ve applied to was Pittsburgh UPMC, since I needed financial aid and Pittsburgh happened to also offer the possibility of a full ride scholarship (and besides, the medical school was absolutely awesome). But perhaps it was because I never spent as much time working on the essays as I should have, or maybe it was because I’ve only shown marginal interest in medicine through my activities or some other reasons, I never even got an interview :P. If you go to the specific school’s forums you’ll probably be able to find the stats of past applicants who were accepted into those programs, which may be helpful. Good luck!

Calico thanks for the suggestion to go on forums it actually helped a lot. Also if you don’t mind could you tell me what activities you did so I know what these programs are looking for in an interested applicant. Thanks.
