Soooooo after looking closely at this year's result, i've realized i needa really focus on schools now that im going to be a senior next year. I have a cumulative gpa of 3.3 unweighted, i haven't taken any honors or AP, also my SAT was 1920. i haven't taken SAT II but plan to take it in math level two and either us history or physics. Next year i will be taking AP english, AP gov, and AP physics. i realize my gpa isn't the highest but i have a TON of extracuriculars,

I did football freshman year
CSF tutor
Indian Club, Dance Club, Poetry CLub, Truth Movement Club
Active involvement at YMCA as a volunteer
over 100 community service hours

I was wondering what are my chances ANYWHERE, in this age and time, people get rejected everywhere, i have senior friends who had 2020 SAT's and 4.2 GPA's getting declined from Cal Poly SLO.

I am leaning towards an architectural major, tho my options can extenuate to physics or engineering. I am african american as well. And my school is ranked top 25 in the state, with an API score of 896. THANK YOU!

I think you have a good chance at UCSC,UCM and UCR maybe UCD if you write a good personal statement.
Someone I knew got into Davis with a 3.3 UW gpa and a 20 on the ACT.
I think you can get into all of the CSU’s except SLO. Good luck.

SLO was actually my number one option but now im reconsidering. Among the UC’s you mentioned which is the most prestigious? what about the CSU’s besides SLO?

In that case your counselors should be well versed in admissions at the UC and CSU schools. I suggest you make an appointment.

You can also look on the website of any UC school to see the frosh admissions criteria. If you meet it 100% you are guaranteed a spot at at least 1 UC campus (in practice this turns out to be Merced and sometimes Riverside).

You could still apply to the SLO and see what happens, just make sure you dont pick the most competitive major (i.e: engineering, architecture …etc) Out of the UC’s I mentioned UCD is the most pretigious followed by UCSC/UCR and then UCM.

(Assuming you are a California resident)

For UC, if you meet the criteria described here, you are in some UC, though not necessarily your first choice:

You may want to compare your stats to those found here:

For CSU, figure out your eligibility index:

The minimum for admission to CSU, though not necessarily your first choice, is given here:

CSU campuses and majors that require higher CSU EI than the CSU minimum are listed here:
