I would like to transfer due to the fact that it is not as competitive academically as i originally thought and i feel that if i were at a more competitive school i would do better. I am definitely applying to UVA (rejected before and is my dream school) and maybe Georgetown based on the fact that they are both very good schools and would definitely challenge me and would set me up to achieve my career goals. My question to all of you is whether or not you think i have a chance at being accepted to either of these two schools and why or why not? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I go to OCC bro!... I am applying to Georgetown with a 3.82 GPA on 86 credits completed. 20 in progress... and 17 planned for summer... (in just 2 yrs time!)

Your chances are good but the biggest problem now is that why would u want to transfer out from such a good university (i know whitman is not a good school though)

Provided that ur a 2nd semester Freshman... and that GPA is coming from your 1st Semester ... it still won't be enough for UVA or Georgetown to really know abt ur performance.

Anywayz....best of luck...yo!

Thanks...anyone else?

I think your chances are very good. As I understand it, transfer admissions are all over the map and very hard to predict (has a lot to do with "freshmen retention" of the accepting school I think). But you have a very good high school record (I'd guess that you were probably very close to being admitted last time to UVA, unless there is some major blemish on your record that you omitted). THe most important thing is that you have shown ability in the college setting with your awards and good grades. That, and some stellar essays and good recommendations, will give you a very good chance at either UVA or Georgetown.

Of course, I cannot claim a lot of experience, because I'm in the transfer process too (from Dartmouth to hopefully Columbia)...

Good luck!

Thanks, i believe the reason i did not get accepted to UVA the first time around was due to the fact that i am not a VA resident which is a big deal since 2/3 of the school is from in-state. Hopefully as a transfer this won't matter much...Thanks for the input and good luck to you to!
