please honestly tell me how my chances look for mcb at berkeley
i think my gpa and ap scores hurt me badly. and my rank isn't pretty either.

thank you very much.

Eck! There is alot of disparity between your AP scores. And I mean not between History or Math, but Math and Physics. If you are good at Math and somehow manage a 4 on the Calc Tests you should at least get a 2 or 3 on Physics. I think that might hurt you a little bit. But, then again the schools don't weight your entire application on your AP scores. It is just the disparity that has me a bit worried. When things don't match up colleges ask questions. For example getting a low SAT score for Verbal then doing phenomenal in your English class and getting a killer rec from him/her may be bad. Unless... unless the teacher can explain the low SAT score. You should always note those things. So, maybe try to get a rec from that Physics teacher who can help explain the situation.

Otherwise you have a very strong application. You still stand a strong chance with the low AP scores, but maybe you could clean and tidy that a bit.

ucs don't want recs from teachers

but thank you very much for the responses. i appreciate it a lot.
yeah those aps scores have me very worried

another question.i took the last old sat in jan. and i got a 1590 (m 790, v 800)
how do i get berkeley to see this score? i know ucs only want new sat scores but dang, i think that right there would make me stronger.

also. the fact that my weighted uc gpa is not even 4.0 is very worrysome.
like i dont sleep at night knowing that my gpa is 3.95 and the average gpa is like 4.15 or 4.26 or something insane like that. berkeley PLEASE i want you so badly.

anymore input?

thank you very much.

iwannaberk,

Yeh, too bad on the teacher rec's. That actually suprises me. I thought they would want at least one. Most schools do, but perhaps their volume is too high? I know Penn State doesn't want any rec's or even essays. It is all about the SAT score.

Anyway, you should eb fine with the AP scores. You don't have to show them some of the scores. Then again they might like to see how many you have taken.

That is a shame, however, about Berkley only wanting the New SAT scores. They will not take the old ones? Terrible, yet I am afraid there is little you can do about it.

thanks a lot.

anyone else? id appreciate it mucho.

just withhold those ap scores...though I am concerned wut kind of material your high school teaches (blowoff).

I am saying a SOLID MATCH for UC berkely. That SAT score is brilliant!

bump

any more opinions as to my shot at Berkeley?

thanks all

Im just wondering how the hell you got a 1 in so many damn classes? You just wasted your time. Definetly dont show them those or the 3 and you might have pretty good chances.

Why did you take Physics C before you had Calculus? You should have taken Phsyics B. I am going into my Senior year of HS, so I don't know what they are looking for. However, your AP scores look to me like you just took tests in order to take a bunch of AP courses.

Your SAT scores look good though.

Good Luck!

my school is a special program where you're not allowed to pikc your classes. i was just thrown into whatever classes they felt appropriate. the physics level was determined by the math level. c for calc. b for precalc. h physics for lower. i just go there and take the classes they make me and try to do my best. sheeeesh.

and HOW does one go about witholding scores? i know on the uc app there is a self reporting area but bad shiz happens when you withold info. so do i call collegeboard ap services and withhold all those 1s from berkeley? and all my schools that i'll be applying to?
i'm thinking if i withhold 4 ap scores theyre going to think shady things so i think i might withhold only chem bc i got good grades in chem. in physics and us history i didnt know what i was doing so i might as well not withhold the grades.

how come some ppl say that ucs "don't care" about ap scores?

thanks
