My chances at BU

A couple of months ago I thought BU was a safety… now I’m not so sure anymore.

I have run into senioritis in the worst way… my first semester grades will include three C’s. However, they are in the three toughest AP classes in my school, and I am taking on a really tough courseload. Thanks to all of the weighting the AP’s give me, I still have a 3.9 GPA, and my class rank is still top 10%… so do I still have a good shot at getting in?

Here are my stats and other info…

AP Scholar With Honor…
AP Calculus AB: 5
AP US History: 4
AP Computer Science A: 4
AP English Language: 3

Your chances are still good, a little slippage in anoverall good applicant.

Your stats are similar to my son who is now a Freshman. He not only got in but was offered a half tuition merit scholarship and also invited into Honors Program so I'd say you look good to get in for sure. He chose BU over Tufts and a couple other so-calles more competetive schools and loves it.

Dogs, good to hear that. How does your son like the Honors Program? What is his major?

He is undecided so far. The Honors class he took was a subject that blended computer science, weird math, & psychology. He had two large intro classes his first semester but then they break into smaller divisons and meet with the TA. His other two classesa had about 15 students. Some kids are really into the Honors Program and particate in special events, research, trips and somne live in Honors housing. My s was not into that, and may not be in future semesters, but he is taking an Honors class each semester and after 4 semesters you apparently get that distinction on your diploma. Which probably doesn't mean a whole lot but maybe would be useful someday if grad school is on the horizon.

Really? He looks like me?

I didn't think there was anyone out there with my scores and three C's senior year alone...

No..his grades stayerd high and his GPA was over 4.5 and top 5 % of his class. His grades remained As' through Senior Year but only able to schedule 2 APs senior yerar. (block scheduler) His ASAT 2s were a bit higher than yours 790, 690, 720 but his SAT 1s were in the 1400s and yours are in the 1500s so I figured it about evens it out.

Actually just checked your SAT 2s and they are high after all. I think you will defintely get in.
