my chances at columbia ?

3.8/4.05 GPA

(my gpa is low because I have taken about 7 APs in junior and sophomore year alone. In senior year I am taking 5 AP classes and 1 SUPA class which is twice as hard as an AP)

2190(750 math, 700 reading, 740 cr) on SATs( had appendicitis attack when i took it and my guidance told that to the admissions office at cornell)

700 on chem and US sat 2

EC:
-I have about 600 hrs of community service at a clinic.

-500 hours of research at cold spring harbor lab under Dr. Dmitri Chklovskii.

-religious community service(170 hrs)

-2nd place in Rohm and Haas research competition

4 years of job experience(Computer Technician, web designer, sales person)

-National Honor Society and Blue Key member

I am applying with research as my main field. I have written my essay on that
and explained to them the experience I had while researching with a computational neuroscientist.

My common app essay is about moving from India to America at the age of 14 in the middle of my freshman year...(Could this be a hook ?)

a bunch of other minor extra curriculars...

balanced profile overall, decent chances, the research interest is good, but perhaps not enough depth to justify the lack of breadth in ECs. your hook isn't a hook, tons of people write about adapting to new cultural environments, you're move isn't particularly uncommon. Any of these life event stories must show how they have shaped you and challenged you, and turned you into a better person, it's tough to show this.

Everyone embellishes hours, so don't bet on that. The research gigs are highly appreciated, as is work experience. You have a good shot but make sure you have a solid essay. Columbia is a tough school!
