Hi, I am also applying to Cornell to class of 2019. Basing on your wide range of extracurricular activities i would say that you have pretty good choices. I am not sure about your gpa, but as far as i know the gpa is not important to them: a girl in my school had 4.96/6 and she got in ED. Consequently, I believe that you have a chance, though, as you probably know, it is really hard to predict ivies:-)

You have decent test scores and your GPA isn’t too bad. A friend of mine got into Cornell with a 3.65 uw, but she had lower test scores. Northwestern seems like a reach, but William & Mary and UVA seem like target schools. I would recommend using the online financial aid calculator that Cornell has on their website to see how much you will get. Like other Ivies, Cornell is need-blind and they don’t factor financial aid into your admissions, but the amount of financial aid you receive is based on family income and not merit.

Thanks for the advice and support! and yes i agree that Northwestern is a high reach
I am definitely applying to UVA and William and Mary, but i would really like to go out of state, even with financial issues, so chance me at BC, Carnegie Mellon, Tufts, and Georgetown?? :)) thanks a bunch, i’ll chance back!

unfortunately, since i am doing early, i have don’t have time to take another SATs. but i am planning on taking the ACT and hoping for a better score.
i am wondering if the level of my courses could balance out my GPA?
i am taking the highest math class offered next year

i cant tell wat ur passion is, this can ultimately put u in the forbidden land. U made a laundry list of ECs, 2-3 quality ones should be good. but u have too many and they are too different

cornell is a pretty high reach, don’t take it lightly. you don’t really have any focus in your EC’s, which will make it hard for you to write the supplement. the world history score’s going to hurt you since Cornell doesn’t allow score choice. try EDing somewhere slightly less competitive for a better shot.

Add schools like JHU, UC Berkeley and UCLA, Boston University, UChicago, and Rice to your list too.

Good luck.

Boston College-reach
Carnegie Mellon-high match
Tufts-high match/low reach
Georgetown-reach
University of Virginia-high match
William and Mary (legacy)-90% sure you’ll get in
UPenn-really high reach, don’t hope too much
Northwestern-reach

Your GPA is pretty low for these schools, and that will hurt.
Your SAT I score is good. CR is a BIT low… Try taking the ACT and getting a 33 with scores of 33 in each section. That’s more impressive.
Your EC’s are not really focused… and aren’t super impressive. Don’t apply ED to a less selective school; ED is for your first choice. If Cornell is just that, try?

Thank you for all the input!!! They are really helping me narrow down schools. My interest was in journalism until I realized I didnt really enjoy it last year… so I understand that my ecs set me back. I think I will just take a reaching chance for cornell, for the heck of it? And apply for more match colleges. Getting honest feedback is really great thank you
