So I'm thinking of applying to Cornell. I'm from Texas and more than likely will go to UT Austin or North Texas but my parents want me to apply to at least one Ivy League school. Here are some of my credentials.
Ranked 12/546 in my Senior class
3.9 GPA
28 ACT with 10 on the essay
1880 SAT
590 SAT II U.S. History
Lots of extracurriculars mostly music: All region and All state orchestra member
I am Hispanic and come from a divorced family and my income is under 100,000.
I understand those scores aren't that great and it's a big stretch.I recognize I'm a rather lazy individual. I did zero studying for those tests and took them twice. But my essays are pretty decent so I'm thinking that may keep me in the running. What do you guys think?

That SAT II score will kill you

Yea that’s exactly what I was thinking. I did get 4’s on my English Language and U.S. History AP tests though. Maybe that will compensate slightly?

Honestly the ACT is not good at all either, kids at big state schools are pulling 30s on the ACT! GPA is not bad at all and the class rank is not either! That SAT score is extremely low for ivies! I am Hispanic as well, with a 33 ACT, honors, and national honor society but I still think Cornell is a reach for me!

It’s a reach for anyone but you seem to have a much better shot than me lol. I should have taken all this stuff more seriously in my previous years of high school. Thanks for your response.

Exactly it is a reach, you can apply and see though! Who knows you have a good shot!!! The resume is not bad just those schools are looking for the total package! Good luck!
