My Chances at Cornell

I'm a junior at the top high school in my state and 50th-100th ranked public school in the country. It's very very competitive and there are several seniors this year going to ivies, one even caltech. I'm white.

SAT: 2210, Math 800, CR 700, Writing 710
probably retaking in fall to get CR and Writing above 750
SATII: Math IIc: 760 (retaking to try for 800), Chemistry: 750, Literature: 690 (completely broke down during it, retaking to get 750 or so)

12 AP classes by the time I graduate. so far I only know bio 5 and US history 4, but I'm expecting mostly 5s on this years

3.7 uw, 4.3 w gpa after this year hopefully, top quintile (my high school doesn't give rank, only quintile)

ECs:
-President of a competitive club for 3 years, many state trophies, and have made it to international competition 2 times, with an 8th place there.
-Science Olympiad this year, state medals, national medals.
-Co-founding a club next year and being co-president of it.
-Member of a political debate club 3 years I will be co-president of next year.
-I've been playing violin for 10 years.

Volunteering:
200 hours at a local hospital, and then 10 more hours from random other stuff.

I should have great essays and recs.

So... what are my chances to Cornell for ED? And then what are my chances for regular admission?

I'm not sure if I want to apply ED because I really want to see if I can get into MIT and other ivys than cornell..

it doesn't sound like you want to go very much...

What do you mean? I'm just unsure if I would want to do ED at cornell because then I wouldn't be able to see about other colleges too. I'm a rising senior by the way (I said junior in my post before).

right, it doesn't seem like ed for cornell is right for you if you have apprehensions...

just a comment on school those high school rankings. They're BS. We have over 30 students from a class of 267 going to ivies this year, and we were ranked 210.

that said, you've got a fair shot at cornell, what do you want to study?

I want to go into something science related. I'm not really sure yet. I agree that the HS rankings are BS (our high school should be ranked higher). It doesn't take into account the actual AP scores, and the per senior hurts schools with larger class sizes like mine. But, I was just saying it to show my high school was highly competitive because cornell will hopefully cut me some slack on my grades.

"I'm not sure if I want to apply ED because I really want to see if I can get into MIT and other ivys than cornell.."

I think that's what cujoe meant by saying you didn't sound very enthusiastic. You have to admit in retrospect, it does sound kind of bad...

Just thought I'd add, with that being said, you seem like a viable applicant and honestly, just work hard to keep up your grades for the first semester of your senior year. Make sure your true enthusiasm appears on your application...I'm not sure what else, but no one on a message board can truly assess your chances. It's all up to those crazy adcoms! :)

You guys are right I realized. I don't think I am going I'm going to apply ED because cornell wouldn't be my first choice. But now I am wondering what would my chances be to regular admission at cornell?
