also, will my above average critical reading score (790) make up from my sub par math score (670)? Would you advise taking the SAT's again to pull up the math?

Your SATs are in there, class rank bottom of acceptable but your ECs will kill you unless you get recruited for one of your sports. You're innnnn if you're 6'6 and a great bball player!!

I'll be honest here (this is about a PM), I have way higher SATs, I'm top 5% at a very top high school and I have considerable SATs yet I know I'll be lucky to get into Duke.

P.S., The scattergram for my school, a very top high schools, shows the only people in the last 3 years who got into Duke with under a 700 on either V or M were recruited athletes and URMs.

Don't worry if other people say your ECs suck. Most kids go to stupid People to People and Congressional Youth things and still don't get in. Collegs see that they're usually rich spoiled brats tugging onto their parents apron strings.

Definitely go for an interview at Duke and make a good impression. You've got an almost sure shot if you go ED.

My bad, and it explains my math SAT scores!! BigE, the big thing as I said from your start are not SATs, which are average for Duke, but no one gets away with no ECs other than sports at a top 10 school unless they're recruited. No community service, no academic interests beyond the classroom? Gave you read the books on college admissions?

actually suze (suzie?) i have. Have you read michelle hernandez's (she was assistant of admissions at Dartmouth) A is For Admission? she gives very little importance to extracurriculars. I don't want to make excuses however, as i agree with much of what you say.

i know i've been pestering you with questions so if you'd just answer these two i'll stop bothering you.

what are some good match schools for me?

If i pulled up my math score to 710 for a combined 1500, does that have a significant effect on my chances?

BigE, Michele Hernandez posts here on CC. My first choice is Dartmouth and Duke is up there too. When I had a 1520, top 10% at Andover, mixed race and a double legacy at Dartmouth, she assured me I was no shoe in.

After many practice tests, my new SATs were much improved: 800 math, 790 CR, 770 writing. Funny thing is I had an 800 on the old writing SATII!!!
