My chances at Emory?

I know at this current moment I cannot get in, but I would like some feedback on what I need to do my senior year.

I have completed 2 AP classes (U.S. History and Language) and made 3’s on both exams.I am signed up for 3 more AP classes (Statistics, Economics, and English literature)
Average unweighted GPA: Somewhere between 3.50-3.70. Weighted: 4.00
SAT score: 1760
Math: 550
Reading: 610
Writing: 600
Essay: 10

I have not done the ACT yet, but I am planning on it.

I have been in marching band for 4 years, concert band for 4 years, chorus for 4 years, jazz band for 2 years, and I have been Trumpet section leader for 2 years.

Clubs:
Beta club for 2 years, Prom committe for 1 year, and Youth Alive for 1 year.

Uhmm. Are you hooked (URM, international full pay, legacy)and do you have an academic interest that Emory may be interested in (as in a not over subscribed one). I would advise you take the ACT and maybe retake the SAT if you don’t like the ACT. Your ACT/SAT should be in the 1200’s for sure. That will really help you. Realistically, you probably need a 1250 (you want to be somewhere near what is at least the inter quartile range of yielded students if you can’t get near the one for admits)

You’ll want to consider Oxford and maybe consider ED if you really like Emory. Other than raising your test scores and writing kick-butt essays, there isn’t much you can do within the time that the application is due. You’ll just have to do that and present a pretty compelling case that you want to be at Emory in the essays by showing your level of thinking and intellectual interests. You may not be in the best statistical position, but you never know. At Emory, I imagine essays can put you over if you are below average yet have everything somewhere near the inter quartile range of stats.

You definitely need to retake the SAT and try the ACT (and of course make sure you study for it until your scores are are at the very least 1350+ or 30+). Also, while applying ED alone will usually raise your chances, it may be better in your case to apply RD if you think you can do very well first semester of senior year in your AP classes so you have those to show in time for your application. ECs are average at best and could use more leadership positions in at least one.
