My brother and both of my cousins went to Columbia. Does that give me an edge into getting in?

A slight edge from your brother, but not all that much.

Sibling's almost as good as a legacy. Cousins are not going to help one bit.

thx for the response. My grades were high than his but i think it differs from year to year

Way too many variables besides having a better GPA.

i guess, but my gpa, sats, and sat2s were high plus i had more leadership roles in school compared to him. However we are both ranked 1st

You're competing against everyone else that applies this year (not him), and the process is very random. There are plenty of rejected people who naively thought "my friend got in last year w/ x GPA and y SAT and I have better stats, so I should easily get in." Hopefully he gave you some help with your app.

I got my fingers crossed. I don't think this years kids are very competitive. Maybe that just in my school. MIT, Yale, and Princeton are my reach schools and Cornell is semi-reach so i hope to get into them or else i go to rochester

I don't believe that, "I don't think this years kids are very competitive" is a statement that you can actually make. Hopefully that calibre of arrogance doesn't shine through your application.

hmm, i see...so i'm assuming you personally know all 50,000 or so people applying to college this year.
