go to GW! you have more than an awesome chance of getting in. then talk to my sister! she's majoring in policomm - political communications - a major unique to GW that is designed for people like you, who are interested in political science and communications.

oh, don't worry about the science and foreign language thing. my sister took bull**** science semester courses and no foreign language her senior year, and they gave her a presidential scholarship anyway.

oh, and if you get in, go in person and negotiate your aid package. we got an extra 2 grand through that.

^ Wow, thanks a lot. I wanted to know though, should I apply to the Political Communications program, or just apply to the basic Poli Sci and then transfer because I heard that Political Communications is like the hardest program to get into at GW, and I don't want to not get in to that and be flat out rejected from the school!

Thanks,

Ben

I disagree, GW will be a problem for him, American should be easy.

i know you have an interest in journalism, but if you haven't pursued it yet, then it would be a lot easier to get into polisci. i'm not sure how much debate would count, since it doesn't directly correlate to the policom program. GW is good about switching majors anyway. my sister switched from communications to polisci to policom within like three semesters.

brenner - bear in mind that GW's average math score was between 590 and 680, and their average verbal score was between 590 and 690. all of his scores are either within or above these ranges.

by the way, in the info sessions, GW tells you that fridays are reserved for internships and no classes are available. that is a LIE. every single foreign language class is on friday. then again, i think only three credits or so are required. but all other classes are monday through thursday.

you may want to mention the internship thing in your application or interview or whatever. they really tried to highlight it two years ago when we visited. give them a pat on the back for good marketing :D.

seriously though. there are maddd internships in DC. especially for polisci or policom majors. and you'll learn so much because you can work with a REAL organization like a thinktank or something like EMILY's list (or whatever you're into) that you might hear about in the news.

^ Thanks for the info, you've been a great help. I think I may apply for the Poli Sci major and then transfer. I emailed the head of Poli Comm and he said it wouldn't hurt my chances to apply to SMPA, but I'm not sure...

Any other ideas?

BTW, I'm also banking on the fact that their 25-75% mark for ACT's is 26-30, and I got a 30 composite, which falls better than around 75% of last years freshman class, I think that gives me a pretty good shot.

Any more input?

BUMP, any other opinions on my chances?
