my chances at harvard pls

<p>Hispanic male from South Los Angeles attending a large public school (5100+ students).</p>

<p>GPA: 3.92W, 3.72UW, 4.1UC GPA (hardest course load)</p>

<p>ACT: 34</p>

Biology - 800
Spanish - 770
Literature - 750</p>

<p>AP Tests
Spanish - 5

English - 2</p>

<p>Extracurricular Activities
-Tutored students at a summer program.
-Tutored impoverished students after school at a local elementary school.
-Graduated from the Academy of Business Leadership, which teaches students the many aspects of business.
-Will attend the BOLT program, which is an extended version of the Academy of Business Leadership. Only the top 25% of ABL were accepted.
-Will work as a tutor starting in September.
-I Have been helped by UCLA's Early Academic Outreach Program, which teaches students about college admissions.</p>

<p>Awards:
Just some school wide awards for good grades, passing AP exams, etc.</p>

<p>Other Things
-I'm done with my essays, so I'm just fine tuning them.
-My Recc. letters should be fine because they're from teachers that really know me and want me to succeed : )</p>

<p>Also, do colleges see the PSAT scores? Because I scored pretty damn low there (though high for my school).</p>

<p>i had comparable specs. Your community involvement is one of the most important aspects of your application. I was admitted regular decision. I would say you have a good chance of admittance, but it is Harvard who really knows.</p>

<p>You have an excellent chance of gettinbg in, especially with your URM status, and no they don't get to see the PSAT scores.</p>

<p>Something I've been thinking about is my essay. My main essays is about the death of my father and how it changed me. Though it was a difficult time in my life, I don't know if it would seem like I'm whining. I also don't want it to sound like a cliche. As it stands right now, it's written as a story and I don't give my thought until the end. </p>

That's my suggestion. Too many people go "ooh, woe is me." You gotta show that you can shrug off and keep going.</p>
