Guys dont be so rude to the OP.Their SAT score IS less than ideal, but they KNOW that, we’re here to give them nuanced advice and constructive criticism, not deflate their self-confidence with rude and dismissive comments.
That being said, OP, you do need some revision to your list. Try to bring your SAT up above 2100 to have a more solid shot at Harvard and other incredibly competitive schools. Good luck!

^ Yes I agree everyone should stop being so rude!!! But the thing is, what is up with people trying so hard for these big name schools and high ranks when there are so many other schools that you can go to? Just because you did not get a 2400 on your SATs or a perfect 4.0 unweighted average does not mean you can’t go to a good school. People judge how smart you are by what university you go to and all these crazy Ivies look at your ranks and numbers and it isn’t worth it. Most of the people in Ivies are book smart but not life smart. I’m sorry if this sounds cheesy but it really is the end of the world if you don’t get into these “high-ranked” colleges because I swear on a pig that if all of these colleges were not ranked people wouldn’t be looking at these colleges or want to get into these colleges just to look smart. So I wish you the best of luck on your college search. Look at other colleges maybe some in the northeast or whatever…the good thing is at least you’re going to college…a lot of people in this world don’t get to say that. :)

This is 3 years late, but I was looking back at my old high school stuff on College Confidential to see how I’ve changed, haha.
Thanks CrazyFrog and Sharon Xiao for being supportive compared to some of the trolls here.
I suppose just to add to the College Confidential Archive, and in the rare case that any anxious high schoolers come across this thread.
I did retake the SAT and got a 2020. I’m a California Resident.
I did get into all 7 of the UC schools I applied for.
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UCSD
UC Davis
UC Irvine
UC Santa Barbara
UC Riverside
Waitlisted for UChicago
I’m happy to announce that I’m currently a third year in UC Berkeley with a double major in Economics and Asian Studies with a concentration in China.
And to current anxious high schoolers:
- Get out of this “What’s my Chances” section in CC, too many trolls. The best you can do is to get in contact the admissions office about how you can strengthen your application (I was an admissions information volunteer for a bit).
- I can’t say much about other schools, but I can say that UC Berkeley does a great job in holistically looking at applications. I know friends who get SATs with 2400s, but I also know friends who got 1700s on their SAT. There are those who are lopsided, one one of my friends didn’t do any extra curriculars in HS but is hella good at Physics. Others are well-rounded, a friend of mine was quite average in academics but has achieved great things. Etc.
- A good portion of college admissions application is the small adjustments to wording to really let yourself shine. Ex: using active verbs to describe what you’ve done in the extra curricular portion.
Good luck! To current applicants, let me know if you have any questions about my experiences at UC Berkeley. There’s also a lot of UC Berkeley FB Group Pages you can look into, students at UCB are usually happy to help.
@YouseiHime ya really wilding if ya think that uc berkely was a safety. 1700 SAT put stanfor at 100% imposibble…
