why Harvard?

my friend got into harvard with those exact same stats he got defered early but for some reason he got accepted regular with a scholarship

Harvard does not give scholarships.

not a scholarship but im positive he got money

Everyone who has financial need gets money. The grant is called a "Harvard Scholarship."

Nospwn: an applicant, especially an unhooked one, pretty much cannot have a single deficient when applying to Harvard. You're lacking in extracurriculars. Unless you play basketball well enough to get recruited, or you have enough passion and commitment to have a leadership position, your chances at Harvard aren't very high.

Your grades and SAT scores are good enough. GPA of 3.8 won't be a detriment considering you're ranked 4th.

Reach. No significant ECs.

Everyone has a chance at Harvard. But with such a large, talented pool of applications, you'd never know. If one admissions officer who reads your app one day just happens to like it, you'd get in. It may be perhaps that decision on a whim that gets you in.

Yeah, you are really lacking in EC's, but your test scores and rank are very impressive.
