Strong essays, Strong recs I hope... Think I'll get into any? Thanks

I think you have a decent chance for Dartmouth, Brown, and Cornell. HYP is crap shoot for basically everyone so it’s hard to tell. Your SAT is a weakness so consider retaking if you have time. I think you have a good shot for making it into at least one of the ivies. Good luck

Any of the Ivy’s are, to some extent, a crapshoot. When acceptance rates are 15% or lower, they are going to end up turning away some high-powered kids. I’m not trying to be discouraging - your stats are extremely strong and I think you have a very good chance - it is just my opinion that you need to keep in mind that you may be rejected. Just my 2 cents

I believe you have a good chance at Cornell and maybe UPenn. Low SAT Is and IIs won’t help, but maybe your background and GPA will make up for that. I’m sure being the valedictorian will help! Good luck!

Don’t know why you pulled out Dartmouth, Brown and Cornell. I know for a fact that Brown has rejected students that ultimately got into either Yale or Harvard. Your scores are good and competitive. But all the Ivies are a long shot for everyone. Go to the Decisions threads and see the stats for the kids that were deferred or rejected. Look a lot like yours. Find the school that is the best fit for you and good luck!!

I think HYPC are going to be tough. But you should apply. You were valedictorian and have some good hooks (URM), plus you clearly overcame difficulty and worked pretty damn hard to achieve what you’ve achieved. I would be careful with those SAT 2’s though. A 630 on Math 2 is really bad for the Ivies. Most kids applying have 800’s. Good luck man.

A 630 in Math may be low but not the kiss of death depending on his intended major. Now if he wants to major in a STEM area, it may be problematic. But, if he wants to major in Classics, Literature, History or a variety of subjects that don’t have a heavy math concentration, it is not a major problem. That is why these schools have a holistic approach to admissions. No one factor makes or breaks the application.
