My chances at Mac?

Go to one of the most highly regarded high schools in the state of South Carolina

GPA: 4.45 (weighted)
class rank: 32 out of 473 (top 6 percent)
I did have one C, and 81, in Pre calculus honors. Do you think it will hurt my chances? I plan on using an essay on the subject, so I think the school will understand, but what do you guys think?

SAT (taken once, so could go up):
Math: 670
verbal: 690
writing: 620

ACT: 28
Math: 28
Verbal: 28
Disappointing, and I am taking again, I think it should be at least a 29 maybe even a 30 (thats what my practice tests usually are, around a 29-30 anyway)

AP: United States
Statistics
World History
English 3
English 4 (12th grade)
Government (12th)
Economics (12th)
Environmental Science (12th) (possibly)

part of BETA club freshman year, DECA sophomore and junior, and Key Club starting junior through senior (including Vice President senior year), Mock Trial junior and Senior year (possibly captain senior year, not sure yet), Principal's Council junior and senior year, and Debate team senior year.

Part of the National Honors Society, National Honor Roll, the National Society of High School Scholars

worked part time at local business over the summer, and volunteer at church frequently.

I had a higher ACT and great EC's that related to my potential major. I was told that my essay was insightful and that my interview went very well ("gave them a good sense of who I was and what I wanted out of a college- a good fit for Mac"). I had one C on my transcript as well.

I applied ED. I was denied.

Sorry- best of luck to you.

Yes, your scores are a little low and your EC's lack passion. Is there an area of your life that you feel strongly about and have pursued for a long time? It seems that you try one thing and then jump to another. FYI - the National Society of High School Scholars is not a big deal. Many, many students are invited to join because the organization can get rich off the fees. Most people I know did not accept the offer.

I was accepted but my test scores were significantly higher. I was in the top 1% of my class and most of my EC's I had participated in for a minimum of four years, some I have been involved with for 9+ years. Unfortunately, I cannot afford Mac since they offered $0 financial aide.

You have a shot, everyone has a shot, just make sure you have a safety school you love.
