Hey everyone, I am a junior right now looking at some colleges in NJ. I have a 3.63 GPA, but I am just outside of the 25th percentile in my class (it is very competitive, as we have a Humanities and Fine+ Performing Arts program. I have 4 EC's, each I am greatly involved with and I volunteer with the local first aid squad. This year I failed my pre-calc and physics midterms, and have a few C's in other classes. Do you think that my 1 honors class and 2 AP classes next year, combined with my EC's, etc. will outweigh my bad grades? Do you think I have a chance at Ramapo College?

bump, anyone?

please, anyone?

Hey,

I think you have a fair shot at getting into Ramapo. Your ECs seem to be great, and colleges look at this a lot, but here is some advice: Take rigorous courses senior year and try to maintain As and Bs throughout. This will not only help improve your GPA, but colleges will notice the difficulty of your courses and may even understand why some of your scores are low as well.

Also, if you manage to do awesome senior year in some hard courses, colleges also have the chance of noticing this before your previous GPA and whatnot.

Overall though, I think you have got a decent shot. Just my 2 cents!

Oh, and can you chance me as well?

thanks, I really appreciate the response…chance coming your way

bump, anyone else?

I think you have a reasonable chance for Ramapo, especially if your extracurriculars are as good as you describe them, but it would really help you to take more AP classes next year and keep your grades in them waaaay up. I’m not sure 2 is going to cut it to cover up the Cs and the midterm fails.
