I have yet to take the SAT...my GPA is 3.9 and class rank is #11 out of 1161 students, graduated with high honors. I'm also a member of the National Honor Roll. I have been a professional tennis player for 4 years, travelling the world and competing in Grand Slams and various professional tennis tournaments. I thought this may help me get in, and be a unique essay topic. What do you think my chances are? What SAT scores would I need to aim for? Thanks!!

I take it you are a junior now. My advice is get recruited for tennis. Talk to the coach, and if you are truly as good as you say you are, you will be recruited and then you will only need mediocre sats to get in. Even without being recruited, you could still write about it in an essay and have a good chance assuming you score within range for sats (like...somewhere around 2100 would be a nice place to be with the rest of your stats).

Thanks....I'm not able to play tennis in college because my pro status makes me ineligible. Maybe helping out with the team in some way would be a bonus???

Well, I'm no expert, but I would say you have an awesome "hook." Unless you come off as a real jerk or something I can't see Rice rejecting you (assuming test scores are in line) and I would even go as far as to say that * any * college would be likely to accept you.
