My chances at these colleges

Hello,
I was wondering if this community can answer about my chances to UB (SUNY), LIU (pre-pharmacy), Albany College of Pharmacy.
First off, I'm a senior in high school @ Bayside, NY.
Pursuing a profession in the medical field, (pharmacy or doctor)
I have 91's on my transcript for math and science, but unfortunately other subjects are just B+ and B's. Overall: 86 Class rank: 300/1000
SATs...is horrible, 1000/1600. ACTs: 22
Extracirc: 73 hours of community service (10 summer year)
Participated in Summer science academy @ st francis college (11 summer year)
School golf team ranked 85/300(rough) in the city (11, 12)
Achieved Black Belt in TaeKwonDo (2 years)
Honors in: Biology, Geometry, and in a school program weighted as an honor class (SMART program) Science Research
-Coach Award in School Golf team @ Ceremony

So what do you think my chances are at UB (suny) and LIU (pre-pharm)
P.S not sure if this helps but my mid -year reports is a 95 AVG overall

I might just apply to city college or something...if this doesn't work out

Thanks!

sorry about the unorganization though.

I think it’s possible that UB would admit you, even with low test scores. I don’t know about LIU and your scores seem too low for ACP. Honestly, it’s difficult to tell as these schools are going to be looking at your gpa in core (or Regents) classes. I know that ACP recalculates gpa this way and it’s likely that LIU would too - pharmacy programs are VERY numbers-driven.

Given your somewhat low test scores and average grades, if you were my kid I would probably advise you to avoid colleges like ACP that offer few other choices and concentrate on schools like UB that offer many different majors AND to have a backup major in mind. The pre-pharmacy classes are quite difficult and many, if not most, pre-pharms will change majors after the first semester or two (UB starts several hundred pre-pharms a year, but generally admits only 40 or fewer into the PharmD program). You don’t mention what your motivations or exposures to the field of pharmacy are but, if you haven’t already done so, I would also recommend you do a lot of research and try to work in a pharmacy or at least shadow several pharmacists if you can.

Yea, I thought ACP was out of my league, but i did it for my family. I wrote an essay of how my grandpa being a pharmacist and my uncle being a doctor inspired me to pursue in the medical field and so forth. I was thinking about going into computers as my backup (engineering or science) Just not sure which one yet. Do you think that I should reconsider it? From some people I heard it’s hard, but others said it’s kind of easy.
