My Chances at Top Doctorate Engineering Program

Hi,
I was just wondering what would be my chances at top doctorate engineering programs would be. Not sure if I should even waste my time studying for GRE and stuff.

So I am currently an undergrad/grad student at Stevens Institute of Tech.
My GPA is only about 3.65.
However, I am obtaining both Bachelor's and Master's degree in total 4 years.
I have a paper being published as a first author based on a research I did (however, the topic of this research is not really the field i want to get into). This one is in solid footing.
I am also working on second paper which is in bit more shaky footing, but I think I could get it published. I am also a first author in this.

So I will be 22 years old with 2 papers published with both master's and bachelor's degree. however, as i said, my 3.65 GPA isnt top notch. Also, besides my research, my work internship is quite lacking. I just took practice GRE. only quantitative reasoning portion and got 800.

So what do you think my chances are at top top doctorate mechanical engineering programs?

would appreciate it if you guys can share some information on other grad students who got into top engineering program. like their avg gpa, GRE and other background info.

Just want to know what my chances are before I commit to this.

Thx ahead

btw, my first paper is on the research I have done during summer and second paper is based on my senior design.

Your best bet is to look at The Grad Cafe admissions database, although it’s a self-selected convenience sample without statistical validity… 'tis the only thing we’ve got!

i checked it out and i dont think there is much information on it.

MIT does not require GRE.

Slight correction for you- they are referred to as Doctoral Programs, not Doctorate programs. You get your doctorate from a doctoral program. Sorry- small pet peeve. Carry on.

well i am Mechanical Engineering major not EECS.

But I would just like to hear your guys opinion on whether I have a shot those top Doctoral programs

Nobody does “chances” for graduate school because the statistical validity of a random forum opinion based solely on a set of numbers is approximately nil. We have no idea what programs are looking for, what individual professors want in any given year, whether your research interests match the faculty at a given school, what the competitive outlook is, how many students each program is going to accept… you get the picture.

Nobody here knows what your “chances” of admission are, and unlike the high school students who don’t know any better, we don’t waste time ********ting you :)
