Please give me advice on how to give myself a better shot of getting into Berkeley! Thank you!

How did you have the time for so many community college courses? I'm not very familiar with how they affect the admission decision. If somebody else can answer, do community college classes improve chances for college?

The problem is you have no AP or Honors courses listed. It's going to affect your UC GPA severely. You can only hope they take that into account when evaluating your application. Your pretty strong test scores should help. Taking the SAT again couldn't hurt.

Check to see if you get "AP" credits so to speak, for your classes at the community college. If you get an "A" at the community college near me, transferred to high school, you get a 5.0 GPA.

My counselor said that my GPA won't be affected on my transcript, but the college courses would be factored in for my UC GPA by the UC (not by the school).

My high school sends a lot of people to Berkeley (8 got accepted out of a class of 50 last year), so I think the college courses do help.

I was confused. So ALL of your courses are actually taken at community college? I think you'll probably get in, you should get the benefit of the weighting then, you should have a high UC GPA and you should get in.

Anyway, your UC GPA should be pretty high, you should probably get in, taking the SAT again is probably a good idea, it certainly couldn't hurt.

wow you took more cc classes than me...i thought i took a lot...our sat scores differ by 10 points and i got in...so if youre a decent essayist i dont see why not since youre in-state as well

I think you have a pretty good chance and should definitely apply.

The amount of CC courses you've taken is simply amazing, and it should give you a boost in UC GPA. SAT score is OK but on the lower end - taking it again is highly recommended. ACT score is about average, but if you have time, it's worth retaking. Your ECs seem very generic but plentiful - could be much better, but sufficient.

wouldnt that mean he would be considered a transfer student.. i dont know how strict they are on transfer students... i say u can find a leadership position and have a killer personal statement... something that shows u have overcome somethign in ur life..

i think you should definitely try. the good thing about uc's are that they're public and don't take into account legacies or affirmative action, so it doesn't hinder your chances if you don't fall into either of these categories. i think, due to this fact, that uc's admission is much more predictable. if you know you're smart, it shows up in the app, and they'll probably feel it too. what i learned with uc admissions this year was that ucla and berkeley would accept people who were confident about themselves.

i actually will not be considered as a transfer student because I am taking those college courses while enrolled in high school. I am still a freshman applicant.
