My chances at UC (yes me again -_-)

Sorry guys this is the third time I am posting but I am really troubled.

I don't know but I seem to have ADD or something because I just really can't focus in school. I did less than 20% of my HW thus I have a 3.1-3.2 GPA taking banal classes (alg 2 at junior year. chem at senior). No AP at all and no EC.

However my only ray of hoipe are my SAT scores? because I have a solid 2100 SAt with me right now and is excepting 2200 (I have 2 more chances). I took SAT 2 chinese (800)and US history (750).

I don't know if teachers will write this for me but I have never failed to top my class in every thing test in every class I have attended. But if they can do me this favor will this be considered as a hook?

I think I can provide a very strong essay. And hmm, I am chinese and I arrived in US at the middle of year 9 if that helps. Hmm, I am in a distinguished high school (altho the school is kinda imcompetent IMO) and is in a wealthy family (does that hurt me?)

My hopes would most likely be:

UCB (haha just say huge reach ^_^)
UCLA
UCSB
UCI
USC
NYU
Miami
Cornell

And oh I am applying undecided so wondering if that helps.

KK thanks guys.

Help the nub

USC??? I hope you mean Southern Cal, and not the other USC, which is in South Carolina. Cause I live about 10 minutes from the other USC and believe me it SUCKS and you DON'T want to go there lol. (And I don't think Undecided would help since it shows them you don't know where you want to go in life.)

Are you a California resident?

No way man...I'd aim for miami cause they have an awesome football football team and then you can tell those geniouses at Call WOOT MIAMI FOOTBALL!!!! AARON ROGERS LOST TO TEXAS TECH!!! CAL'S GOT NOTHING ON US. USC would be good too then (Lienhart's coming back AHHHHH!). But well a 3.4 with no EC's most of those colleges are reaches. Start a club u like...join a sport...maybe you can play Miami football! that'd be so sweet!!

Cali resident and its 3.1-3.2. Haha I wish its a 3.4

I say bump it!

SAT 2 chinese (800).....why did you take this? you're obviously a native speaker; that is not that impressive. besides, isn't the percentile for 800 like 40%?

No APs, and even low grades (low GPA) in no APs hurt you. The teachers writing that you did the best on all the tests will not really help; this will just make it look like you slacked off. Believe me, they want hard working people as well as intelligent ones. That is NOT a hook.

And hmm, I am chinese and I arrived in US at the middle of year 9 if that helps. ---> This would help if you had an upward trend. So don't ask the teachers (and I doubt they'll say it; don't tell them what to say) to say you got top scores, b/c it'll, once again, look like ur slacking off (cuz then you had bad HW score). Besides, the classes you've attended are regular classes, so that doesn't help at all....

Huge Reach:
NYU
Cornell
UCB (more academics oriented than LA)

Reach:
UCLA
USC

Cross your fingers/some-what Match:
UCSB
UCI

Might I suggest two years of De Anza than transfer? By that time you can also decide what you want to do. Plus you are garunteed a spot in some UC (might not be UCB or LA)

Are you not taking AP's because your school doesn't offer them, or because you're too lazy? If it's the latter, then you're screwed at most of the UC's. By the way, a chinese getting an 800 on the SATII CHINESE doesn't help much. Alg 2 in junior? Chem as senior? Haha I know people who took geometry in 8th grade, biology over the summer, and are taking alg2/chem as a freshman. The fact that you have NO ec's puts you at a major disadvantage. I'd say even UCI is a long shot

Consider community college and then a transfer. That way, a 2.8 for most majors will get you into UCSB, and a 3.0 will allow you to be in the UCI priority program (don't know about the details of that one though)

Hmm even with 2200 uci and ucsd are huge reaches?

And my school offers nearly every Ap out there so ya thats kinda sad.

Besides CC what else is left out there fr me thats decent? For example top 40?

Btw, really appericate your inputs ^_^. thanks alot guys, this is really helping me to clear my thoughts etc...

Btw is this an ok senior program?

chem
physics
pre calc
calc
ap comp science
ap econ

(i did alg 2 1 st and 2nd semester at the same time because i had to make up a D from geom in the 1st sem. I am the first in my school to do so thus I think if i ask them for pre calc and calc at the same time, its a huge possibility)

No it's not your SAT score that you should be concerned about...it's your GPA. It's abysmal. Your SAT is fine. If you want to get into a top 40 school, why on earth would you slack off during high school? You seem like a pretty smart person, just too lazy.

Thats the question I have being pondering at for years..why am i like this? I really don't know...

I just can't bare to do anything in class. The only info I obtained is through osmosis. I gets distracted easily, i talk all the time, i make stupid jokes whenever i can, i act as a class clown everyday....and at home I am even worse...whenever i am beside a book my mind starts to wander into the world of shadows and dreams. my mind is filled with thoughts bout games, people and random stuff. There is not a moment when i am not using my brain. if only i can put all this into my education.

sorry for my rant btw...

If you get tested for ADD then you can include it in your application as a "disability" ie the reason for the low GPA and lack of EC. My suggestion would be to enroll in a community college and transfer in two years. Oh the Cal States are not a bad idea neither.
If you are looking at the top 40's try something out of state. ( Btw this is Ebonytear's cousin who is second year at UC-B) From personal experience the top UCs are EXTREMELY selective this year. You could always try UCSB, UCR or Merced.

Isn't santa cruz open administration btw?

And what really is ADD? I am really unruly or anything, just tends to act smart and gain attention in the wrong way. If i dont get any care at home then perhaps this can be explained but as a single child in a chinese household...i just really don't know.

And oh I fake my grade reports so my parents don't even know...its not that I want to but....

PS: assume i work my ass off starting now and gets a 2300-2350 (i can't really guarantee a perfect score..i kinda suck at comprehension. my thoughts are too radical and often miss the most obvious point of views) and maintains all A in fairly challenging classes in my senior year will that help alot?

Thanks

chem
physics
pre calc
calc
ap comp science
ap econ

After your easy workload so far and senoiritis, let me tell you, that you will struggle. You're taking Pre-Calc and Calc. Bad idea. Either take Pre-calc over summer and take calc or just pre-calc. As far as the AP classes are concerned, I don't know how econ is and comp sci was easy for me, but I don't know if it will be same for you.

Just be prepared to work your ass off.

Will that impress the schools tho? I am a believer of myself (good and bad...i know i am bit too cocky at times) and I think i will have no prob if i just stick with it without trying wandering off again (i mean i have many ap ppl in my us history, english class and i often beat them in every test by 10% or more. but i hope my faith in myself is correct). This really is a commitment because i have never tried in my enitre life and i really dono if i can focus in class. but what the heck, i will work my butt off.

Thanks alot..haha comp science..the teacher is really lazy..like lazier than i am. we start class 40min late and gets out 10 min early. i takemultimedia rtie now btw but i copy everything from a friend. according to some ppl, all u do in comp science in my school is follow the paper. every step is on there...so....

Vehement:

UCB: Reach
UCLA: Reach
UCSB: Match
UCI: Match

Nice. How is UCSD?
