Pros
- I’m going to apply Early Decision for Johns Hopkins.
- Awesome Public Speaker.
- Decent Essay
- Mind blowing Teacher Recommendations
- Haven't done anything horrible that would get me sent up to the office for 2 years.

Cons
- Caught Cheating Twice Sophomore Year
- Freshman Year is.. Horrible. 3 Cs A lot of Bs. Couple As.
- C+ First Semester of Sophomore Year of Pre Calc A+ 2nd Semester
- Took all Regular Classes Freshman Year
- The only think I have for all 4 years is Tennis.
- I'm probably going to get either a mediocre or a horrible counselor recommendation.

I know, I was stupid for Cheating. I'm planning on being a Pre-Med so I'm probably going to major in Chem or Bio. Or even better! BioChem! Not sure yet though :T I've taken a Science Class every year throughout High School.

So Here's basically my story. I started out as a horrible student. Freshman year totally kicked my ass. I was caught Cheating Sophomore year but I got decent grades. Atleast 2nd semester. 1st semester was still kind of a transition from horrible student to A+ Student. 1C 1B 5 As. 2nd Semester of Sophomore year and beyond, Straight As. My Counselor Recommendation isn't going to be great. I know my Teacher Recommendations (Chem Teacher, Math Teacher) are going to be awesome. Basically I went from an Asian Fail... to a Straight A Student. I'm afraid Freshman Year's going to affect colleges' decisions though.

Can someone update me on the UC Teacher/Counselor Recommendations by the way? Do they get information from your counselors at all regarding the student's attitude? Or just Transcript?

I think you could write one of your essays about what you learned from your cheating experience and how you’ve become a better person as a result. Without that, I think the cheating thing, if it comes to light somehow will ruin you chances at any decent school, UNLESS you can make it work FOR you. Your essay should stress your awareness of how serious a character flaw this revealed and what you’ve done to repair it. I think it might be a winner.

Amuck - You need safeties, because your assumptions place you on very risky ground. Specifically troublesome are your assumptions that (a) colleges will overlook your academic faux pas, (b) colleges will overlook your pedestrian CR score, (c) colleges will ignore the HS GC recommendation, and (d) teacher and GC recommendations are independent.

I agree with tokdoc that your essay provides an opportunity to show what you’ve addressed the cheating issue and become a better person (and better student!) for it. But unless the GC recommendation confirms that …

You also have to recalculate got gpa without +/-

Your SAT IIs are great. Use the October test date to improve your CR. A 560 is not what you are capable of. You can do much better than that. You need to really work on that and if you do, your SAT score could be amazing.

You got caught cheating twice? From what I’ve been told, Johns Hopkins doesn’t like its overcompetitive stereotype and is paying extra attention to such wrongdoings…

D: Critical Reading is so hard to improve on! I regret not listening to my mother when I was younger. Then, I would’ve read more and I’d get a better score on CR. What’s GPA +/-? What if I end up writing my Essay on the cheating scenario and my Counselor writes nothing about it on my recommendation? o.O

You’re already done with senior year? So you are waiting a year and then applying? If so read a lot, 560 should be very easy to improve.

Nahh, I’m an incoming Junior but all this is what I will have by the end of 1st semester of senior year.
