hey everyone. im a junior and i want to go to ucsc. by the end of my senior year i will have taken 8 AP courses. my avg. weighted gpa will probably be around 3.5-3.7. also, i just got my SAT scores back today: 1960.
As for ECs, i have 3 years of wrestling(freshman, soph, junior)

what do you think my chances are of acceptance?

Your SAT I score is solid and your Extra Curriculars are fine. However, note that the application for UCs is submitted before you receive any grades from your senior year (assuming you’re on a semester system). Therefore, UCs do not consider senior year grades in admissions.

Having said that, taking AP classes definitely shows your willingness to take challenging courses. The only thing I can recommend is to really try to push for as high a GPA as you can by the end of this year and spend a lot of time on your personal statements come application time. You’re in a good position now, but focusing on these will get ensure your admission. Good luck!

UCSC GPA stats: 3.25-3.49 - 24% of admitted students, 3.5-3.74 - 37% of admitted students
UCSC SAT I stats: 1530 - 1890 for middle 50% of first year students

You should be fine! Better stats than me. I got in w/ a 3.7 UC gpa and 1600 SAT

Try to get really good grades by the end of your junior year. UC gpa is only 10th and 11th grade. Make it as best as you can. I regret not pushing for the extra As i could’ve gotten. I had a bunch of borderline grades in 10th grade form B to A, but i just got the Bs -___- So much regret. You have APs so that looks good.

okay so i’ve just determined that my uc gpa ia 3.55. although im fairly sure that the UC system will not count my D in math in the calculation and will use the repeated grade which will improve it. but is this a good gpa? where can i get in with it?
