Can I consider Georgia a good bet? Here's my resume!

GPA: 3.53 uw academics

Curriculum: 7 AC courses, 2 AP courses (will take 2 AP courses senior year)

ACT: 29

Location: Michigan

Major: Sport Administration/Management

ECs: Ice Hockey (captain, state finalists), Orchestra (two-time competition winner, president, 1st chair, awards within), Helped found a premier sports website on the web, write for the site currently (won an award with the site), Helped build and maintain Disc Golf course while a part of Frisbee Club, member of National Honors Society, Volunteer at local thrift shop, worked with local newspaper for 5 years (won awards during service). Candidate for class president (didn't win :-( )

I think you are in, but I thought you said your michigan GPA was 3.3 or something? UGA only adds .5 of a GPA point to AP grades.

The thing with Michigan GPA is that they get rid of all your +/- on your grades. I have a bunch of B+'s so that hurts me terribly. Also, they don't take into consideration grade boosts. If Georgia gives me boosts, my GPA is MUCH higher. My school only gives me .33 boost per AC/AP course. .5 would help me tremendously.

If you look at UGA's website, they dont count +'s and -'s eithers, just A's and B's factor in. Also your AC classes will not get any boost using UGA grade calculations, only your AP classes will. So in reality your 2 AP classes will get a .5 boost but nothing else.

Oh geez :-/

Do they account for every grade, or just Sophomore and Junior?
Do they account for every class, or just academics?
Does foreign language count?

My GPA is likely (using the "Georgia" method) between a 3.45 and a 3.5. A .5 grade boost is more than my school gives.

they count every grade on your transcript, however they only count your core academic classes(foreign language, social studies, science, math, english)... They take off all honors or AP points and only add .5 to AP classes... which means you lose any weight to your AC classes and get nothing added to them. Its identical to the michigan GPA except they count freshman core grades and give .5 to AP classes only.

Okay, so my Georgia GPA is 3.5, which isn't bad!

Applied today! Yay! Go Dawgs! Hoot hoot hoot hoot hoot!

you already got your counselor form? Are you in school right now?

No, i'm in school in 2 weeks. I submitted the online portion of the application, and paid the fee. Also printed out the necessary forms. All i'm doing is waiting for school to start, so I can get my counselor form from my counselor who did my recs over the summer.
