Hi. I’m going to apply to the Cockrell School at UT Austin for Mechanical Engineering. Would someone please tell me what are my chances of getting in with the following stats? Also, do I have a chance of being in the Honors program? By the way, I live in Texas, if that helps.
GPA: 5.61 (weighted), 4.0 (unweighted)
Rank: 3/545
SAT: 2290 (1490 for CR+M)
ECs:
-mainly involved with Mu Alpha Theta/ math club (president)
-also a member of NHS, NTHS, BPA, Student Council
-competed in UIL at Distruct and Regional competitions
-140+ hours of volunteering
Being in-state will definitely help a lot. Your academic stats are stellar. I would give you a 90%+ chance of getting honors, for sure getting into Cockrell. Try to improve your extracurriculars if anything.
I am in top 7%, but this policy only allows in state students to get in to the university. Even by being at the topic of my class, I could still not be accepted to my major of mechanical engineering at the Cockrell School of Engineering.
